I like older men. Period.

Kind of goes along with what someone else said - I can't really help it, and all to date, no amount of convincing has turned me. I wish I had a really, truly logical reason for it. But, I like men who are older than me and I like men who wear wristwatches. Makes no real sense.

I'd hate to see some of you ladies in a graveyard.

Somebody had to say it.

There is nothing wrong with making that preference known, Kaliko. Don't worry, it shouldn't hurt anyone; most of us, at one time or another, come to realize that being attractive to everyone is both unnecessary and  impossible. Even if you can adopt various personas to indulge a person, you eventually realize it's so much more comfortable to be appreciated without any need of convincing or inveigling.

What is very wrong is ascribing "older", "younger" men or women a slew of prejudices or baseless generalizations about personality traits or behaviours (intelligence, wit, charm, driving of cars, aggressiveness, etc), in order to justify one's preference through constitutive repression. (Building a positive identity by ascribing negatives to another conceived identity - essentially, implicitly glorifying 'A' by directly vilifying 'B'.)

As for maturity, experience and any resulting respect, those are obviously age-related, so generalizations along those lines are tenable. Yet, finding someone markedly mature and respected in comparison to their peers is certainly possible if you know where to look, so I really doubt that alone gives a satisfactory explanation. Honestly, you don't need a logical or rational reason for a preference; often times, illogical and irrational drives are often far more powerful. Plus, being unable to understand something does not invalidate it. [;)]

All in all, I'm not against the younger woman/older man preference. I just dislike people who cast others in a negative light, just to make themselves feel good. And personally, I find that if someone is to demonstrate vehemence, a lack of intuitive understanding when it comes to people, and most of all, a lack of tact, that's more than enough reason to avoid them.

P.S. But, hey, now I feel good about my wristwatch. [:)] (Where there is one person with an affinity for something, there are always more.)
P.P.S. Thanks poise & Jeff. [:D]
