My contract is almost up... 2 months and I can switch phones with little payment out of pocket. I have been searching for what I want... and I simply cannot decide.

My service is Sprint, I have no intention of changing.

My question is... 3G or 4G?

Any other information tossed out would be helpful!

Any suggestions?

tazzy,
I also have Sprint, and I just upgraded to the Family Plan, I wound up with 5 lines. I did that because it worked out cheaper for my needs. Anyway, one of the new phones I got was the LG Optimus S, the other was the Evo Shift. If you do a lot of texting or internet on your phone I would recommend one of the two Evo phones they offer. Find your nearest Repair Center/Store, and go in and play with the phones. As to 3G or 4G, the HTC Evo and Evo Shift are capable of both 3G and 4G operation. It all depends on the service in your home area, again the best way is to go in and actually try the phones out. I recommend the combination repair center and store, they are more geared to the customers needs and satisfaction than just a retail store. Any other ??? mail me on the other side and I will try to answer them.
D

Edited because it is late and I put in too many "the"s

tazzy, I have the HTC Evo and I have a love/hate relationship with it.  I love the browser on it especially, and the screen.  But I hate some bugs in it, such as the fact that I cannot edit calendar appointments once made, and I have yet to figure out how to select a block of text.

While I agree with MstrDouglas about trying them out in the store, I'll add that I'd recommend you reading reviews first.  The salespeople are also quite helpful.

I've heard rumors that you can argue Sprint into dropping the $10/month 4G fee.  But I can't confirm.

ashjor, that's not an option since she states she's sticking with Sprint.  iPhone is available only with AT&T and now Verizon. Although I have heard the iPhone is incredible.

My discounts would ony apply to phones through the Sprint network.

~FR

I have been looking at the EVO phones. Are there that many problems with all the bells and whistles?

Consider NOT renewing a contract.
I haven't done a new contract for many years, I don't want the higher expense.
You can get a phone from eBay or other retailers and just pay a nominal fee to have it linked to your account.

Be careful as usually when you buy a phone from your carrier, you are given a new contract at a higher fee for less service.

Still keeping my unlimited data plan,
Stefan

I just have a... phone. A 5-year old telephone.

I use it to make telephone calls.  The plastic holster broke a couple of years ago, and they don't make this model anymore, so I fixed it with epoxy. But other than that, it seems to work fine, and doesn't do a whole bunch of stuff that I don't want to fool around with. Can't imagine why I'd want anything else.

i recently (well for my b-day last year) got a cell phone -- i had sworn off them for a couple of years because i was tired of people feeling "entitled" to reach me whenever. =p haha
i like the size/shape/usability of my phone, it's "outdated" by now, but has a qwerty keyboard for texting mania, which is all i really need. haha but i have to say, the HTC phones are pretty flipping amazering.

i can't imagine needing that much phone and yet i want one. =p though, several people who i know who i have them have that same love/hate relationship that DS mentions -- there are some bugginess issues that drive people batty.
trying out the phones and seeing what you like might be a good idea before you get stuck with it for 2 years. if you know someone who has one, see if they'll let you play around with it.

*psst* You aren't the only one, Panda. I only recently figured out that mine has a 'tip calculator' built in.

You have two tips, Wyld. Does that make me a tip calculator too?
