Ahmadinejad is telling the other Middle East leaders that they need to listen to their protesters.  After he is planning to execute the leaders of the unrest in his own country.

I suppose since he sees himself as being a leader of the area, he does need to weigh in. But this is just weird.  Politics is supposed to make strange bedfellows, but it's like he's a strange bedfellow of himself!

Ahmadinejad is a nutjob if ever there was one. The eyes definitely are windows into his soul. They seem both dead and crazy. He's like a child, in a way. A child that lies. You know how small children tell you a fib and you KNOW they are lying, but they think they're putting one past you because they're being so sincere? Yeah, that's how Ahmadinejad is...thinking everyone is going to believe him just because he says it's so. He continuously contradicts his actions with his words.

Ahminadinnajacket isn't actually a leader, though: he's the Emu to the Ayatollah's Rod Hull, so who gives a fuck what he says?

What incredible spin... he isnt a leader. He is "just a nutjob".

You have to be crazy if you really believe in these Huffington talking points.

Eggzackly! Ahminadadablahblah is like Iran's version of Ronald Reagan without the naps. Unfortunately for everyone, he, unlike Reagan (and his fellow fascist Franco), is not dead.

The Ayatollah is Iran's leader. Ahmenadijab is just there so that they can have an election once in a while and then pretend that they're a democracy. How much power do you think a President is going to has in a theocracy ruled by somebody on speaking terms with Allah? The role only exists because the current Ayatollah is a bit more camera shy than the last bloke and thinks that doing diplomacy with infidel nations is beneath his dignity.

What do you imagine would happen if Ahmadinejad started making choices in conflict with the Ayatollah?

I suspect they'd have to find another president who was even more of a fawning ball-less toady.

Ahmadinanutcase might be off the planet but he's hardly the first politician in history to be an open hypocrite is he?

Not taking your own advice has been perfected into an art form by Western politicians. Blair for example, would have been much better off to take Imanutcase's advice and listened to the British people re Iraq wouldn't he? Here in Australia, Howard would have been much better off had he listened to what people here thought of his madcap plan to involve us in the Iraq fiasco.

I could go on but as we all know the list of hypocritical politicians is endless. Sadly no where is this more obvious than in the area of foreign policy.

Does it really matter how much actual power I'manutjob holds? He is the official spokeshole of the country.

Maybe he's working from the premise that since he other countries aren't already theocracies, that is what the protesters there want, while his protesters remain enemies of God because Iran is special and different?

Ahmadinejad is the head sock puppet.  Why would the Ayatollah wish for some of these Governments to topple?

Simple, many of them have operated more as secular governments rather than religious ones.  His ultimate wish is that in reforming they can be prodded, coerced, or helped (pick your choice) into eventually forming an Islamic Theocracy in the model of Iran.

To be honest I don’t really get why some people say he is just a puppet figure or a fool. It is also at best tenuous to say his threats toward Israel were misinterpreted as they weren’t really mistranslated. He was actually a university lecturer and an experienced politician prior to becoming the leader of Iran. Yes he has similar values to the Ayatollah but that wouldn’t invalidate his own importance, particularly his role as a strategist. He’s actually an extremely evil individual. During the Iran-Iraq war Iranian children were trained to walk over landmines in order to protect Iran's limited military resources. These children were called the Basij, which was a newly invented concept of child martyrdom. Tens of thousands of children as young as twelve were killed. A small price perhaps for a guaranteed a place in heaven and their families financially compensated. Ahmadinejad was a Basji instructor, apparently it is a well known fact in Iran. Basji interest groups helped get him elected, and fought and killed some of the Green movement protesters last year.

How putrid and morally bankrupt.

Its true that some middle-eastern societies are in the grip of outright moral insanity. For example that episode with these children is celebrated in Iran today. The Basij were also used for fighting as well but they often only had sticks and stones. I remember an account by one Iraqi soldier who said these children would just keep moving toward them on the battlefield and Iraqi's would mow them down with machine guns. It was so bad that eventually soldiers often couldn't do it anymore.
