marshalp -> Is it good for the Union (the big one) (2/25/2011 10:19:14 AM)

All this trenching by both sides and ratcheting up the rhetoric without any indications of compromise (by both sides)... I wonder if this is good for any one? We DO need to compromise... we Do live in the came country and are in the same boat. Right now i don't see either side thinking about it... it's always "my way or the highway" attitude... Do you think this is helpful???

p.s.  plz don't make this all partisan... (wishful thinking... i know)

No.

When you vote in people promising partisan platforms, what did you expect?

I do not see any possibility for compromise as the power aspect of the issue is concerned (public sector unions bargaining rights).  Regarding the benefit issue, I believe, the unions should negotiate a new agreement.

Representatives of both parties are more loyal to their party than to their constituents.

This is bad for the constituents and thus the country.

I would like to see both parties scrapped and just make people run on their own plusses and minuses.

That would never work.

You are always going to have people who identify with certain groups, whether it is political, religious, or take your pick from this point on.

The unions in question have all agreed to the pay and benefits cuts in the bill just not to the loss of their member's rights. Seems to me that is the obvious compromise, if not really giving too much in the face of threats, if this is about the Wisconsin state budget.

I cannot begin to understand how anyone who is actually informed on this issue think that both sides have been inflexible.

That is true... but the right could then say that the dems didn't compromise on health-care then why should we... & it becomes a never ending circle thing...

On another note... what do you think of a leader (Governor) believing in "my way or the highway" philosophy!!!
