jlf1961 -> Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 2:55:21 PM)

I got bored and decided to take terms that I have seen on a survivalist forum that I frequent and do some searches.

First was references to the Free Masons running the country, and an alleged conspiracy that stated that most of the Presidents of the United States have been Free Masons.

There have been 14 Free Masons elected president out of 44 Presidents, hardly more than a minority, not most.

Unless I am mistaken, the so-called Skull and Bones society has only supplied 3 presidents, again dismissing a conspiracy theory that the Skull And Bones society has plotted to control American government.

Finally, there is this insane number of posts about FEMA Internment Camps.

Doing a search for the term on google brings up 708,000 hits.

Funny thing is that some of the pictures used as proof turns out to be pictures of camps in other countries, the aerial photo of one that was supposed to be in Wyoming is actually a recon photo of a camp in North Korea.

How can anyone actually believe this stuff about the government when it is so easy to debunk?

I mean I am a survivalist, own a nice collection of firearms and keep a six month supply of food stored, and am also in the process of going to wind and solar for electricity, but I don't consider myself nuts enough to believe some of the stuff that people are putting out there.

In short.........yes.

However, I don't think it's anything new. I remember back in the late 70's when things were tough, there being a lot of wacko paranoid, the end of the world is coming, sorts. Fools hoarding gold, food, etc etc etc.......

I believe the US of A is in for some tought times in the near future. I hope to sell my home and move to a more rural area, and become more self sufficient. Be prepared for the worst, and hopefully it won't happen. Murdocks law

jlf1961 -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 3:17:04 PM)

I already live in a rural area, although there is a B1 bomber base ten miles away, I figure if it gets nuked, I wont know about it.

I would prefer to live somewhere that places me 120 miles from the nearest WALMART (an agency of some conspiratorial power for sure) with the only connection to the grid being an internet link.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Seriously, this is nothing new, and I doubt it has any clear lines.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paranoid_Style_in_American_Politics

The problem is that the only difference between a conspiracy and a contract is an illegal subject; and if fraud is the subject, then it comes down to whether you think you're getting full disclosure.

For example, did the Bush government just shout down people who had questions about blundering into wars - questions like, "how are you going to finish this?"

For example, is it fraud to sell a financial product without disclosing that your company has hedged their position?

Aneirin -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 5:28:08 PM)

Has Part of American Society become Paranoid ?

Well, I thought American society was always paranoid, I mean look at your government through the twentieth Century, arming itself to the teeth and even searching for the latest bogeyman under the bed.

Perhaps the reality is Americans are scared of Americans are more scared of Americans than anyone else, for there is always an enemy lurking where you least expect it, the question being who or what is it, so one must be prepared, willing and ready to defend oneself against who or whatever. Which is the same as the country whole and the intelligence/ military with their search for the bogeyman to defend against.

Mind, is I were a Yank, I would be exactly the same, as the government, any government, I just do not trust.

I suppose of those that answer to the survivalist mentality, the question should be asked, do they like, support, or respect authority ?

flcouple2009 -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 5:30:34 PM)

Part of America has always been paranoid.

It doesn't matter what you debunk.  They will only accept what they want to believe.

Aneirin -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 6:20:26 PM)

Perhaps the ultimate conspiracy theory is the existence of conspiracy theories as conspiracy theories keep many eyes off the reality.

jlf1961 -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (2/28/2011 7:17:58 PM)

What surprised me, and I probably should have expected it, is that people will take pictures that human rights groups have taken of camps in other countries, slap a "Department of Homeland Security" Logo on it, and post it as some place in the United States.

They have taken pictures of Camp Grayling, a training center for the National Guard, Army, Army Reserve, Marines, Air Force and Navy personnel to train them on keeping POW's, (they have training compounds that resemble POW camps) and make the claim they are internment camps.

Part of American society is paranoid but it’s a small part. And to answer your question, people who are not well educated can believe stupid things.

Ignorance does not equate to stupidity.

For example, it is stupid to make such a connection, and you are not ignorant. [:D]

As with many potentially money-making things in the US,  the doomgloomology has been exploited to its fullest, and the whole industry have been developed. Many things these people predicted 10-15 years ago have become reality. The way the industry works is: 1) there is always certain dose of truth and logic in their predictions, 2) fear and uncertainty for the future is very powerful psychological stimulus. So they inflate and misinterpret the facts and create the atmosphere that attracts attention  and sells some related products (survival  seeds, gold coins, storable food and so on). I do pay attention what they have to say. Although, one needs to keep their "crap detector" activated. The opposite garbage is mainstream economic news. They present these days a total fantasy. People with poor critical thinking and background knowledge fall prey to both camps.  The economic collapse is highly probable and everybody should prepare for it. The money printing in the US has reached unprecedented in World history levels. Also look at the Department of Homeland Security budget and at a number of people involved in domestic spying (~800,000). These facts should make everybody worried.

Marc2b -> RE: Has part of American Society become paranoid? (3/1/2011 7:04:15 AM)

Of course part of American society is paranoid... why wouldn't they be? Americans are human and paranoids can be found throughout all ages of human history and in every society and social class. It is when the paranoids assume power that we really have to worry.

Let's have a little query, which is just asking questions because while we may feel that there is no grand conspiracy...questioning things always helps keep the great unwashed...a little more washed, I guess.

I have always felt that Free Masons were or at least started out as a benevolent commercial 'networking' if you allow me the word for a group that goes back centuries. They for me anyway such as [they] exist, do not seem to have their fingerprints on anything.

Skull & Bones, is another with the only exception being that those 3 have been very recent and during the times that tend to raise suspicions. Yet we still don't find anything truly incriminating. Skull & Bones is also bipartisan.

As for FEMA camps, the jury is still out but they are deliberating. What are they deliberating about ? Over history, 10's of $Billions for an agency NOT created by law but by exec, order 12148. This admin. was allegedly created with the idea that during an emergency, govt. that is the federal govt. would still b able to function.

So, do they operate any camps at all ? If so why ?  IF, we except the above as its mission...then why ANY camps at all ? Think about FEMA devoid of any conspiracies...how is it that any 'Administration' within the fed. govt....

...takes over, the responsibilities of the Pres., Dept. of Defense and all relevant depts. of the govt. ? And if its mission is simply the continuation of govt. why FEMA at Katrina ? I have my suspicions but I'll defer you all of you 'experts' here. Here

I have a whole lot more questions...a whole lot more, than answers.

In the end, everybody is a survivalist and if push comes to shove...many just won't. But it is really telling that we have to be 'nuts' to believe in ANY conspiracy at all. I guess that's how very smart people can be conned out of $Billions...they refuse to believe it is any conspiracy. But then again...that's part and parcel of many conspiracies...isn't it ?

From your link: First thing, they go after is the messenger...The woman who made the video, Linda Thompson, was one of the pioneers of the militia movement in the United States--except that she was so extreme, the Southern Poverty Law Center says she embarrassed even her fellow milita members. (Most famously she called for an armed march on Washington, D.C., to "take U.S. senators and congressmen into custody, hold them for trial, and, if necessary, execute them.").

Plus, why is a FEMA camp redoing Amtrac trains, or is it. That could very easily be cover. Why are there camps people cannot enter and see ?

The above is irrelevant plus every link of questions during Iran/Contra put to the committee about FEMA that by order of the chairman was to be taken out of the public eye. Why ? Now it has been pulled claiming some very specious copyright infringement. Why ?

Furthermore, I don't trust our own govt...at all. That's the sad part. Like I said...I have a whole lot more questions...than answers.

I don't think that's what they're there for at all: they provide an excuse for whining bastards who are incapable of accepting any responsibility for the mess they've made of their lives, mostly without any outside intervention, let alone a sinister cabal of control freaks picking on them. They aren't unemployed and stuck in a trailer park because they're unemployable, it's because they've been blacklisted by the Masons (or the Jews, or the NWO, or the Illuminati...)
Utterly pathetic, really, but not a calculated diversionary tactic in any way shape or form.

She took splitting up with Richard hard, then?

6 months of food stored?

Are you for real?

You love the NWO.  How could you stack food and guns?   You celebrate the UN, the NWO, forced vaccinations,  cloud seeding, and building 7 lies.

Now lets cut to the chase.

How many bonuses has Wall street gotten - and off of whos backs.  You are on Disability.  Is it any puzzle that there has been no COLA for 3 years- while living costs have gone up?

Who is the nut here.

Silver is up today.  I am good.

True.
Mind you, nobody paid any attention to my gag about Linda Thompson, did they?
