Under the Charter, people physically present in Canada have numerous civil and political rights. Most of the rights can be exercised by any legal person, (the Charter does not define the corporation as a "legal person"),
I gotta find up to date info but honestly I have to give a damn.

inSanity I am still waiting for a reason why anyone might seek or need the 'right' to lie.

As is clear from the dictionary, lying involves deception, falsehood and mistaken impressions.

Is it your position that the media should actively promote deception? Or falsehoods? Or mistaken impressions?

For the media to deliberately lie is to negate is very own raison d'etre, it is to deliberately fail in its fundamental task of educating and informing the public, it is to cease to be the media and become a la Fox, the propaganda unit of billionaires and large corporations.

How anyone can claim to be committed to freedom, human rights and democracy and defend this 'right' is simply beyond me. This is the first step on the fast track to tyranny.

No Bob, its you leftist freaks who are arguing against free speech who are mentally deficient. Please dont call yourselves liberals anymore, as you argue against liberty.

What are the penalties for these speech crimes, anyway. Not just the law that says one must not say things that cant be proven, as you say. But the other speech crime laws you mentioned earlier, your "hate" speech crimes.

At one time, Arpig, US news was checked, double-checked and found to be true before airing it as news.  It must have been before Sanity's time because he is stuck on the fact that lies ARE news and can be used as gospel.  And rejecting that kind of news somehow limits freedom of speech.

There were always newspapers that printed whatever the editor desired, the lowest most vile things imaginable, even back in the days they were signing the Constitution. This move to stifle free speech is new, and its leftists like you who cant counter conservative arguments with effective arguments of your own who blindly push it.

MSNBC counters FOX, in fact CBS and the New York Times, NPR as well as AOL / Time, Newsweek, and many more spread the leftist gospel but thats not good enough.

Leftists have to squelch free CONSERVATIVE speech if their failed ideology / religion (government is god) is to have any chance of lasting another election season, and they know that.

FOX is the devil...

Was there someone from the Canadian bureaucracy standing watch over his shoulder? Were there teams of leftist freaks pouring over his every word and sentence, trying to identify any statement that could be prosecuted for a speech crime violation?

CBS would probably have just ran reruns of Leave It To Beaver had that been the case, and stopped trying to broadcast the news altogether.

Speech crime laws are purely contemptible, let anyone say what they have a mind to say, period.

There are a lot of people in this forum that believe that moderates and conservatives are in the minority. That's not true at all. In fact, there was a poll out where only 21% of the respondents considered themselves to be liberals.

So my question is, if 79% are moderates and conservatives why do we only have one network who is willing to present the other viewpoint.

Latest two examples of how the pc lamestream media tries to control your mind is when they tried to connect the Az. shooter to the tea party movement. Then just yesterday NBC was trying to convince us that foreign college graduates should be allowed to stay here, when we all know that there are thousands upon thousands of our graduates who can't find jobs when they graduate.

Another key point is that Cronkites opinion turned against the Vietnam war, some say that was what lost the war for Democracy there.

Could well have been speech crimes involved (by Canadian standards) in that.

Cronkite spewed plenty of opinion, regardless.
