LadyRedRose -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/5/2011 7:18:40 PM)

i have a few guilty pleasures, "deadliest catch", "dirty jobs", those are entertaining. the ocean scenes in "deadliest catch" are just mezmerizing and mike rowe is a hoot! for sheer giggle value it's got to be "big love" on hbo, it's like the old program "soap", everybody is doing things to everyone else and it's just comical. maybe it wasn't intended to be that way, but i find it very funny. i also like "hoarders"; it's interesting, at least to me since i study psychology, to try to understand the reasoning behind the illness.

DykeNoir -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/5/2011 7:56:45 PM)

Iron Chef, Law and Order [not the new one], Criminal Minds, ESPN when it covers extreme sports, Caprica, and Martha Stewart.

Law and Order [not the new one]
I don't love the new Law and Order either.   For myself, neither of the detectives are believable, and in fact, the whole cast is not working for me, so I don't watch, unless it's old episodes.

The Law and Order, Criminal Intent with Jeff Goldblum, did not work for me at all!   It seemed both detectives were posing for pretty contest, and lacked the acting depth and intensity of Goren and Eams (Vincent D'Onofrion, and Kathryn Erbe).   M

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 1:41:47 PM)

I have really enjoyed watching Being Human! I admit that the firt time I caught it on BBCA, after having watched it on Syfy, it threw me...the actors were different, but close enough to make me think I was losing it - and the episode was one I'd just watched the week before. Again, almost the same scene but different enough to make me think I'd really lost it. It isn't nice to fuck with a woman who has amnesia like that!

Big fan of BBC - Dr. Who! Probably one of my guiltiest pleasures.

Syfy - Merlin (although at firt I hated the licence they took with the mythologie and history)

Primetime network tv, I enjoy Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones (one of my favorites), Fringe. I also like Chuck (have a thing for nerdy guy) and Harry's Law.

This season I've been watching American Idol and really enjoying the show.

Yep, my guilty pleasure is that I enjoy watching TV too much these days.

For more serious TV, I watch some CNN (Cristianne Amampour), CNBC, MSNBC, and BBC.    M

i don't know if there is any way i can agree with you more.
i will now try putting myself in a pressure pot, to see if i can condense my agreement further.

i don't like Chris Noth on Criminal Intent, either. he always strikes me as Mr. TriesToHard, and none of his co-stars ever had much personality, either.

LadyPact -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 2:16:16 PM)

No mention yet for Big Love?  Yes, it's stupid.  Yes, it is prime time soap with some of the silliest story lines, but I just have to see it through in it's last season.  When TrueBlood and Boardwalk Empire come back, I'll be watching those, too.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 2:20:50 PM)

I'll definitely be watching True Blood and Dexter when they are back on!

Jennislut -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 3:44:09 PM)

House & Big Bang Theory (love that show - especially Sheldon - he reminds me of my brother)

subrob1967 -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 5:40:35 PM)

Chuck & Castle, those are the two that I feel guilty for enjoying.

servantforuse -> RE: Guilty Pleasures on TV (3/6/2011 6:17:32 PM)

I like Chris Noth as the commitment phobe on Sex and The City, but didn't love him on Criminal Intent.   I'm afraid, V. D'onofrio's eccentricities, and Eames detachment, as a result of past hurt, will never be replicated, without those two characters, in the same series.
I read the two originals, are returning for the finale in season 9.    I wish the actors well, but those two were magical in that series, and they might as well close shop on criminal intent without them.    M
