ORIGINAL: TheHeretic Perhaps what we could both use is a better way of identifying those moving into radicalization, and maybe more importantly, a way to divert them. Elaborate stings (the Portland plot, for example) send a nice message, but tying up undercover operatives to lead every incompetent punk into a prison cell isn't a good use of resources. Engagement with the Muslim population is whats needed Rich. I am convinced part of the reason for the 7/7 bombings in the UK was a responce to the Iraq invasion. While many wont admit it, it was seen as an attack on a Muslim country by UK`s Muslims. Currently there is a wave of right wing marches going on in the UK which doesnt help the situation. That said, the Muslim population have seen such racism for what it is, a bunch of small minded racists, no more and no less. Frankly, and you may not agree, the reaction to the proposed Muslim Mosque in NY would have had an alienating effect on US Muslims. The sooner the "all Muslims are bad" B/s stops, in both our countries, the better the situation will get. Muslims terrorist are like their far right counterparts, just a small part of the community.
