Yeah, well, I worked in unions too Jenni... in my life Ive worked just as hard as anyone. Been there, done all that myself. Nothing against your dad or even a lot of union grunts but union workers very often abuse their protected status and can bring production to a near standstill while virtually extorting wages and benefit packages that are far above anything thats reasonable. The public employee unions have grown far too powerful and their demands arent reasonable. Things so bad that cities and entire states are at or near the point of declaring bankruptcy and the members riot if anything that can help the situation is brought to the table. Heres a bit of a clue for you, dialogue here is often directed towards far left ideologues such as hippiesphincter and you shouldnt take it personally or as a jab at your family. Its a little rough and tumble when frankly discussing politics and religion generally, so try to take the things you read here with a pinch of salt. quote:
ORIGINAL: Jennislut im sorry sanity - i take exception to your posters. my dad works for the government and is in the union. he works 10 hour days monday thru friday and usually 6-8 hours on saturdays. he often spends what little evening time he has and sundays working at home as well. he works harder and longer hours than just about anybody i know. perhaps it is different in the us, or with other civil servants, but they are not all lazy sods - some of them work damn hard for their money and are truly dedicated to serving the public.
