It is nice to know that republicans have our "small government" interests at heart!

When did Goldwater express anything against protecting intellectual property? Its one of the foundations of capitalism, and Barry was most certainly a capitalist.

Much ado about constituent services.
Someone owed someone a favor.
Any bets there's ever a vote on it?

I wonder if this isn't a way to get rid of people secretly filming abuses by big Agribusiness?

I have yet to see it but there was an indie film about made a couple of years ago with secret video about raising/slaughtering beef. It had a scene where a cow was being sprayed in the face with a water hose in order to get it to move to slaughter. Another cow was moved to slaughter by forklift because it couldn't walk. I think regulations say the cow has to be able to walk to be killed.

This "law" would make it illegal to film such stuff, I guess. So I'd say no to this bill/law. I think if Agribusiness had it's way, we'd be back to the times of Upton Sinclair.

We already have laws that protect IP.  If the IP is within easy sight from public land, then its the IP owner's responsibility to pay for a building or a high fence before restricting those on public land from viewing it from public land.

The inability to balance the needs of capitalism with protection of personal liberties, even the personal liberties of your 'political enemies', is how we ended up down the slippery slope with today's Republicanism not being very Goldwateresque.

The idea is hard to explain. It could be the photos can be potentially  passed to Chinese and they may ask the farm as a collateral to debt.

I now have this Gary Larson-esque image in my head of a cow hiding behind a barn, pointing a gun at her leg, slowly working up the courage...

"C'mon! You can do this! It won't hurt that much and then I'll be allowed to live! Live, damn it! I want to live!"

That's the point of the bill in Florida.

I must go now. Too much agreement here.
