In general 20 (some say 15) minutes is the maximum time you can keep a clamp on. Of course this also depends on the tightness of the clamp. A very loose clamp that barely sticks on could stay on indefinately whereas a tight one can cause permanent damage if left on too long.
A few years ago a male submissive wrote into the forum. He had met what he thought was an experienced Domme for a session. She left clamps on his nipples for a couple hours. It was 6 months later and he was wondering if there was any chance he'd gain sensitivity back. Sadly he probably had permanent nerve damage.
