I hope when I die I become an evil spirit and haunt your cats.

If that's so, then why have all those dead fuckers been hanging around my place all these years. What the Hell do they want?

Cats can sense death as well - my ex's father's cat and my friend's grandmother's cat acted weird right before they died.

http://animals.howstuffworks.com/pets/pet-sixth-sense.htm

In July 2007, a fascinating story emerged in the New England Journal of Medicine about a cat that could "predict" the deaths of patients in a nursing home several hours before they died. Oscar, a cat adopted by the staff of the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, R.I., has at least 25 successful predictions, in which patients died hours after the cat sat down by their beds. After the nursing home's staff caught on to Oscar's ability, they began alerting families whenever the cat took up his post next to a patient. Most families tolerate or even welcome his presence, though Oscar becomes upset if forced out of the room of a dying patient, meowing outside the door.

it's very true!

cats are very sensitive and it's been said that they see the energies of the dead. at one time my cats came home and had the run of my conservatory. they were only allowed into the house at certain times as i paint and their hair is terrible for sticking to oils, aside from me being allergic to their hair. but, they would come to the door, look round and then decide whether to come in or not. my house is very well known for its ghosts, sometimes they are here and sometimes not. hence, sometimes the cats would come in and other days they would slink away. but then i've also got dogs that react to the spooks too.

as for old guys. in the years i've been there virtually all of them have seen cats. a couple see children and my last lady to go sat and spoke to her neice who had been dead for years, but had come to see her. strangely it was one of this ladies most lucid days before she passed.

in other reports they assume that cats, like dogs can smell "ketones, which are biochemicals given off by dying cells".

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2835787/Oscar-the-cat-can-smell-death.html

which makes sense to me that they smell that difference which is occuring in a humans body.

They may be seeing spirits, but at the same time, I firmly believe that cats can hear electricity running through the wires. In our old apartment, the cats would always stare at the walls where the wires ran up when the neighbors upstairs would turn something on.

This....from my profile journal.....

I've always been a cat person. Yes, I do like dogs and have owned dogs through the years. But cats are my favorite.

The other night, a local cat (who looks at least part-Siamese) who I see from time to time in our parking lot was outside the door to the building when I was leaving. It was pretty late...well after 10 PM. The cat is friendly and when I opened the door he/she took a moment to absorb a short petting...then bolted past me into the office building. It stopped for a moment in the sort of thing that cats do when they suddenly realize this might have been a very bad move. The cat was wearing that "....whoa...what the hell am I doing..??." countenance.

I took that opportunity to try to catch up to him and put him back outside. Confused or not, the cat was having none of that. He took off up the stairs of the 4 story building. Given my landlord more or less disregards the law where keeping fire doors closed is concerned - the cat had a fairly limitless number of places to run to and "explore". The cat also runs up stairs much faster than I do. So I spent the next 50 minutes exploring every stairway and hallway in this very large building, trying to find the cat. EVERY one.

I was hungry...I'd had no lunch and I wanted to get to the market before it closed at 11. time was running out. I really wanted to find the cat. I imagined all sort of cat-horrors befalling the "poor thing". Plus I imagined the assorted doctors in the building starting a vendetta to find "who let the damned cat in????".

Realizing the store - though only a few minutes away at this hour, would close in 10 min...I abandoned the search and resigned the cat to its' fate - I wanted to be sure to get my dinner.

I ran down the stairs from the top floor...down the hallways to the main entrance in a huge rush to get to my car....(...which I had parked immediately outside the door earlier in the evening after an errand...) and there.......sitting by the exit door....was the cat....meowing at me. You could almost read the words created merely by the look on it's face.

"Where the hell have you been???? I need to get out of here and you just take off for all this time and just leave me here????? Open the damned door already!!!"

It likely took the cat....perfectly formed body and powerful legs....all of a minute to explore every staircase and floor....before becoming insufferably bored with the whole expedition ...returning quickly to the door where the human would be there to let it out.

He ran out the door when I opened it, looking back to give me one more meow....clearly stating...as a parting insult...."I cannot BELIEVE you thought I'd gotten lost in there!!!...Geeeeez....I'm not the stupid one here...."

Off it went.

Under my car.

Looking underneath, the cat was sitting...comfortably....under the middle of the car. The part you cannot reach. Tossed a few small stones at it. It reached out with a paw ... assuming I had decided to play with it.

The small stones became fun. So I got in the car and started it. Time was wasting....it was near 11. I leaned out the door to see if the cat had run. It hadn't. It was now under the rear of my car, a van with high clearance. I revved the engine. Laid on the horn. I imagined how I looked to the neighbors I was waking up from sleep. Guy revving engine, beeping horn, looking under car....at 10:56 PM.

Finally I put the car in drive and inched away...."revealing" the cat....still sitting flat to the ground.....looking puzzled as to how it's hiding place had moved away....feeling naked no doubt. Off it went.

I arrived at the supermarket as they were locking the door.

I love cats.

I used to have a yellow tabby named Ginger, and she loved black licorice. She lived til she was 16 1/2. A couple months before she died, Blackie came along and adopted me. He's my 14 lb Norwegian Forest Cat.
