ORIGINAL: BrokenSaint I've always felt it was kind of hilarious people were so reticent to move conversations over to a different medium that tends to function better. The cm chat works pretty poorly for me when it does work, and when you're talking a conversation online you really have no way of knowing whether you missed a line or not. I'll take reliability, but I digress. Pretty much every chat program ever is free to create an account on, some of those take about 40-50 seconds to whip up an account (though some are much slower, especially since bots with image recognition are often used to make them for marketing). This means you can come up with something in no way tied to you off the top of your head, and pow, it's your new screen name. Basically if safety is the concern, you're just as safe either place. I hate chat programs because it seems like there is a time limit on when to reply just for the sake of being polite. Compared to e-mail or something where you can do your day-to-day life while occasionally building up a message, it's that a chat requires more of my undivided attention which detracts from other subjects of interest to me.
