There are so many ways to spank, and for some it is purely the physical sensation.
For others, it is the anatomical connection of nerve endings.
For others, it is a physical manifestation of their partner's control.
In the beginnings of this relationship I had difficulty with descriptors because I had had one partner previous who had spanked me well.
But the reality was I did not know how I liked to be spanked.
And now I am an "all of the above": I am not a pain slut, and for me, context is everything.
It is a combination of the synthesis of His control, those yummy nerve endings and the all the other sensations of heat and thud and sting and sharp and cool and soothe and coda, but the context of this relationship makes it all the moreso exquisite when He tells me to turn over, and my back-side becomes His palatte and the journey begins.
Edit to add:
And for some people there is a cathartic element to being spanked.
That has happened within this relationship as well, when He has discerned that what I am in need of is to be thoroughly spanked followed by a hard cuddled cry.
That kind of 'therapy' has always been effective here.
