After complaining about it for weeks, I find I still cannot send email on this site.  So, I'm going to try deleting my profile and creating a new one.  I'll take about a week off and take my time writing it, as I write better if I don't hurry.

I will miss the boards while gone, but I need to be able to write to people here.

I don't know what my new name will be, but It'll probably have my actual name, Harry as part of it.  I'll post an introduction when I get back.

Profile will be deleted after I get back from the Desert Dominion play party tonight, or tomorrow morning if I'm too tired then.

See ya'll when I get back.

i'm not sure if this will help, but if you type in your nick from the home page your profile does come up, which it doesn't just clicking on your nick here on the boards.  Good luck.

Hopefully, maybe, possibly, I have to wait until the profile is approved.  If not, I'll start pitching a bitch on this board EVERY DAY, until I get an answer.  Last time I started a thread on the subject, Moderator 11 quashed it, but quick, then emailed me to tell me that there was no problem.  But, she never responded to the letter I immediately sent back to her and "Service" never responded to the mails I sent them about it.

No problem my ass!

You'll find your stay here to be amazingly short if you do.

Where those emails as pleasant as this post was?  That might have something to do with it.

While I'm not a "Sir", I thank you for the suggestion.  I tried that a couple of weeks ago on my old profile, ServiceNTucson, but it didn't seem to help at all.

No, those emails were several weeks ago, before I started getting really upset about being an apparent second class citizen here.  If you look at most of my posts under the name ServiceNTucson, you will notice that anger is not my usual mein.

But when friends continue to tell me that they never get the messages I send them here, how am I supposed to feel?  When I write to support about it, as you suggested I do several weeks ago, and get no response at all, how am I supposed to feel?  When I see a profile from somebody whom I'd like to get to know better, but know that spending several hours writing a thought out letter will be a complete waste of time, since it won't be received, how am I supposed to feel?

I don't want to be a troublemaker; I abhor troublemakers.  I just want to be able to use the same features that the vast majority of other people here seem to be able to use.  My "threat" to bring up the subject on the board, which admittedly should have been worded with a little less anger, was intended to mean that I would continue to point out that there is a PROBLEM, in hopes that somebody with the power to do so would address the problem and fix it, rather than simply deny that it exists.

Please keep in mind that this is a free system run by volunteers who all have real jobs and real lives away from here.  System problems get fixed when there is time to fix them, and in the order of their severity.  If the problem has already been reported to Support, it's on their list, and they don't need to be reminded that it exists.  All that's likely to accomplish is get you bumped to the bottom of their queue.

Thank you.  I very much appreciate the fact that collarme is free and the work done by the volunteers to keep it running.  I have, in fact, volunteered myself, under a previous name, but the only job I'm remotely qualified for is "Profile Checker" and I guess there are plenty of volunteers for that position.

There's the rub.  While I have myself reported the problem to Support, I never received a response.  So I have no way of knowing if they received the report or not.  Since nobody else gets my email, the logical conclusion is that they did not.  If this is the case, who knows how many other people with the same problem have attempted to report it to Support unsuccessfully.  For all we know, it could have been reported dozens of times and Support still be unaware of the problem.  The purpose of my rants on the subject, both on these boards and in my profile is to try to make sure that Support IS aware of the problem.

If it's been talked about in the forums, it's a safe bet that Support is aware of the issue.

Consider that even if your email is getting through to Support, it's common for them to get over a thousand emails a day.  Unless the situation specifically warrants, they don't send a reply.  Time spent answering all those emails would be time not spent working on the problems and they choose to spend it on the latter.

Thank you for pointing that out.  I was unaware that Support had that sort of volume of mail.  I briefly considered flippantly responding "Why don't they get an autoresponder" but then decided that since I'm not in the position to donate one, I should leave that idea alone.

I do wonder though, when Support has time to read the forums.

For now, I've deleted my journal entry bitching about the problem and added a little to my profile, pointing it out, asking that anybody writing to me give me an offsite address to respond to and asking that anybody who sees me on their "Admirers" list please send me a note if they think I might be somebody they'd like to know.

I guess that's all I can do for now, other than keep posting on the forums.  I'll re-visit the issue in a few weeks if there's no improvement.

Iron Bear, Ariel, and BLKTALLFULLFIG,

I received and responded to each of your letters, thank you.  The problem seems to be one way, I get mail sent to me, but nobody gets mine.  Thank you all for helping me check this.

It's been discussed, but then they would get a rash of complaints like "how do I even know a person read my email, I got a canned autoreply."  They're going to get flack no matter how it's handled.

They're just like all the other users.  They're here because they're interested i the lifestyle in one way or another and they walk hidden among the masses.  Would you begrugde them the use of the system they donate so much of their free time to?
