ORIGINAL: tazzygirl ~FR To be honest, I wonder about those who are in such favor of this campaign, and those complaining that Obama did not move fast enough. Not sure if this is directed at myself but I'm not in favour of either option. I think an intensive diplomatic engagement with Gaddafi should have been the first option. quote:
Would you be so willing if this was happening on US soil, if the rebels were americans, and they were seeking to overthrow our government? Before you start snapping about how it would never happen... think Tea Party. I think therein lies one of the problems. Getting involved with internal disputes within sovereign states is a very serious matter and it seems internationally that the choice to do so is taken much too lightly when the state in question isn't particularly strong militarily. We saw this in the former Yugoslavia and then in Kosovo but recent revelations suggest the jury is still out to an extent on what really went on there, and which sides were the instigators of the conflict - probably both were equally bad but the Serbs bore the brunt of Nato's attacks. In a sense it set an unhealthy precedent for Iraq. quote:
ORIGINAL: Lucylastic LMAO well to be honest, I fail to see any need ...wilful ignorance is the only argument to be offered by Mcains and Palins fans Whats the point? its like shooting fish in a barrel. But yanno I love to watch them try, its sad how I get my kicks lately, but hey , its just a phase until the next election:) I have no wish to start a flame war but this sort of sentiment is indicative of the general attitude on the forum. It simply isn't a healthy approach to discussion. Left or right, no side has a monoploy on what is right or wrong as far as I can see.
