It shows Bruce Lee playing ping pong in a most unconventional manner yet still manages to showcase his overall skill. Having once been a very good player in the sport myself, I know how demanding it can actually be. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult Bruce's style of playing is.

Amazingly precise.

UFR

I dunno if it was Lee or Li, but there was supposedly a video a long time ago of him catching a bullet. I don't think it was a 7.62X39, but any bullet, try it sometime. I imagine it was a VERY subsonic load, but even if it makes it twenty feet it's moving pretty damn fast. I've thought about what it takes to make your body that fast, and I practiced. But I got nowhere near these guys. I got good enough to spar one handed against a two handed opponent, which I think is good enough. But some people fish with their hands, just reach in and grab the fish, I know a few people who can get across the room faster than you can see. I just never made the grade, so no fifteen minutes of fame for me.

T^T

My God, is there anything that man could not do? He's truly amazing.

As soon as this link came up, I sent it to my son who has nothing short of a shrine to Bruce Lee in his bedroom and bathroom. The only thing he posts on his FB are clips or photos of Bruce Lee. He also allows no posts on his wall unless they are about BL. My son is studying Kung Fu and is a brown belt, and mighty fast with nunchucks. When he watched this video, he slowed it down, frame by frame, and studied Bruce's movements. He was an amazing athlete, and I'm glad he is the role model my son looks up to.

That is too funny, I also fired it off immediately to my two sons, both of whom have Bruce Lee posters up in their dorms and admire him greatly. I haven't heard back yet although one texted that he'd look at it after class.
I agree, I'm glad he is a role model for them. They both have black belts but I think his appeal to them is not just technical skill...it's the brain behind it, the persistance/hard work, and his whole persona.

You should see the video of him doing his one inch punch. He generates an incredible amount of power in such a short range. The world only get so many true geniuses in a given field.

Hi, Blacksword. My son has watched that so many times, lol, as have I. He actually did a martial arts demo in his school a few weeks ago and his best friend (who also takes class with him sometimes) agree to let him do the one inch punch on him. I was there with my ex-husband (who is their instructor) and watched them. (I was freaked out beforehand, asking if his friend was SURE he knew what he was agreeing to... they practice stuff at my home all the time, but it had been a while since they did this.) His friend readied himself and had a chair behind him so he wouldn't hit the floor. Poor thing... my son nailed him in the chest from an inch away, and his buddy had a red mark there for a day or two.

What boys will do... [8|] He also has a collection of t-shirts with Bruce Lee on them. (With last week's order, I think he's up to 8 now.) He carries around at least 3 of Bruce Lee's books in his backpack at all times, so if there's a spare minute, he's reading. (the craft, the mechanics of the human body, the philosophy, all of it)

Lizi... I think it's awesome you shared it with your boys, too! [:)]

You all realize the video is not genuine shot footage, yes? Like these are not actual (digitally untweaked) shots.

Hey redhead. I'm betting he was sore for quite a while.

There are a whole lot of Bruce lee fans everywhere. Probably always will. You never know. One of them may end up being one that can pick up where he left off.

I think you're right, lol.

I agree, and I can only hope that my son will follow in the path that was set out by Bruce Lee. He had amazing talent and skill and discipline. This has been a huge step in getting my son on the right track, and keeping him there. (anything that can keep a 15 year old boy away from girls and bad influences is A-OK in my book)

Honestly, I don't care so much if it is or isn't. My son was skeptical, too, which is why he slowed it down frame by frame. It doesn't take away from the facts regarding Bruce Lee's life, his skill, and his writing.

Lol. Martial arts are great at keeping kids focused. It's especially good for boys. They need an outlet to let some of that aggression out.

Bruce Lee just didn't want to waste a good ping pong paddle because he knows they're great for spanking some ass with.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Extremely Rare Bruce Lee Footage (3/22/2011 7:40:47 PM)

I would just like to say that I agree with RS' post. [;)]
