There are idiots everywhere.  Fortunately, very few people gave this one the attention he wanted.

Anybody who has heard this guy speak for 8 seconds knows he's an attention seeking jerk but I am curious Mike...

When is it OK to burn the Koran in protest?

slvemike4u -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/21/2011 10:01:39 PM)

I have a problem with folks who burn books.....period.I assign the label asshole to those who see profit in such an exercise.Doesn't matter if the book is "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn","Moby Dick"...or "The Godfather"
But now I am curious when do you think it is appropriate to burn The Koran...or for that matter any book?

kdsub -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/21/2011 10:09:26 PM)

And...if people of Muslim faith think all or even most Christians believe as this nut-case then they are just as prejudiced and undeserving of their own religion.

We are constantly told, and rightly, not to judge the whole Muslim religion by the acts of a few...will time for them to do the same.

Butch

Well said!

I too am glad no one gave that attention whore any more the the 30 minutes of fame he already got (Yes, I know the phrase is 15 minutes but he got waaaaay too much press the first time around).

truckinslave -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/23/2011 9:24:26 AM)

It's his perfect American right to burn the Koran, and thus is never really "appropriate" or "inappropriate".

BTW, are you for or against an Amendment to prevent desecration of the flag?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/23/2011 9:28:36 AM)

I think it says a lot that he "Put the book on trial". Then, a jury "deliberated for about 8 minutes" before he torched the book that had been soaking in kerosene for about an hour.

How the hell do you have a trial for an inanimate object?

Can you spell whackjob?

It is inappropriate. Its displaced anger.

Im against the amendment, But since it is a right i support those who do in a political protest.

truckinslave -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/23/2011 9:35:36 AM)

Well, yeah.
I don't see the need for a trial, either [:D]

So... burning the flag isn't? Displaced anger?

Both are attempts to piss people off, pure and simple.

I didnt say it wasnt meant to piss people off. Nor did I say he didnt have the "right" to burn the Koran.

I said his anger is misplaced.

I will go on further to say he doesnt give a damn about any soldier over there, or any american for that matter. His misplaced anger may have cost a few lives. But he, like most righteously ignorant people, dont give that any consideration.

Aneirin -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/23/2011 9:49:42 AM)

Aw, and this thread I though was about someything had happened to the religious idiot, but no, he has gone through with his threat and this has been publicised world wide no doubt.

Don't you have laws in your country about inciting religious and racial hatred, or is it you are all free to insult whom ever you please ?

Figures. Since burning the Koran is a right I burn every Koran I get my hands on and support everyone who does likewise.

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the preacher that wanted to burn the koran? (3/23/2011 9:51:19 AM)

Well, that's your right...a right you owe to those who have served/are serving under the American Flag and whose caskets have been/will be covered by the American Flag.
