He also stated that we invaded Libya for their water.  [8|]

I think it's watching too much Charlie Sheen and all that winning stuff.

I never said he was perfect, but Chavez is the leader of that country and we have no right to depose him.

And may I remind you of the stupid things said by US politicians over the years.

It may be out of context as well, maybe what he meant was that world conquest would allow importation of fresh water from Mars. Still out of this world, but if you think he gets up there and utters two sentences you are not familiar with the situation I would think. IIRC he is known for long speeches. From what I've gathered, some may think that is a good reason to get rid of him. Even here, when the state of the union address comes on it is time to throw in a DVD.

Regardless, just sell us the oil.

"I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet," Chavez said in speech to mark World Water Day.

Dumb, stupid, crazy?  Not really.  Misguided and over dramatic?  Probably.

Are you going to try and argue that capitalist and imperialist do not have a long history of exploiting the earth's resources and leaving wastelands behind, especially in third world countries?

20 odd year back, your fella Reagan was on the tele pointing at the map and warning of the impending doom about to be caused by the Sandanistas (according to your man, the Waffen SS and the Mongol Hordes were poor imitations). And quite a few believed him - enough to turn public opinion.

I know this will escape you completely, but there's such a thing as getting your own house in order.

And before you say it, we have plenty to sort out, too.

And that's the problem in this world, too many people flushed with 'success' forget the ingredients for success - and it ain't lying through your back teeth.

One might also count the average American supermarket full of faux food as a wasteland of sorts.

Slavehandsome -> RE: Chavez says capitalism may have ended life on Mars (3/23/2011 4:15:41 PM)

Chavez was talking about the privatized water deal that Khadafi refused. That's the same privatized water deal that has left Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and many African countries in poverty. The water deal is the same as the energy deal, or the military protection deal.

As for what Chavez is suggesting about Mars, if Iran or Israel decided to go all out and release their nukes, our world would, in the span of a few months into years, look exactly like Mars does now. We'd have some pyramids in certain spots around the planet, yet the entire planet as is would be uninhabitable. The good news there, would be that the profiteers would have to spend their precious time re-engineering some other habitable planet, by using Plate Tectonics and Scalar Technology.

Remember, that without debt, there can be no profit.

Plain Bull Shit...

If every single nuke on the planet went off tonight, tomorrow the sun would come up and the next day and the next day. Human beings would survive not only the next few months but the next few years, decades, centuries, millennia and beyond ON THIS PLANET.

nahhhh, Chavez must be right. Stanley Kramer, Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner wouldnt have taken artistic license, would they?

Slavehandsome -> RE: Chavez says capitalism may have ended life on Mars (3/23/2011 4:44:31 PM)

Hey FatDomDaddy (aka Rush Limbaugh?),

Just so you'll know, the sun still rises and sets on Earth, just like it does if you were standing on Mars. The difference is, that somewhere, years ago, somebody'd had enough of the imperialism, torture, assassinations, kidnappings, rape, plundering, coverups, electronic voting, false flag operations and doublespeak to the point where that was the only way they could vote. Whoever did that on Mars, is the one (instead of Obama) who deserves a medal.

catfightservice -> RE: Chavez says capitalism may have ended life on Mars (3/24/2011 11:42:11 AM)

I read the link, and I have to say I somewhat agree with Chavez.

"I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet"- Chavez .....

Ahh I dont know if there ever was life on mars, but if there was I can see why one might think capitalism was its demise. Look at the chaos our planet is in right now.

"Careful! Here on planet Earth where hundreds of years ago or less there were great forests, now there are deserts. Where there were rivers, there are deserts,"-Chavez....

Ya I dont know of any areas where water is drying up, but I know we are sure doing our share to contaminate it. I also know we are killing our forrests, and developing land rapidly. They say a foot ball fields size of forrest in the Amazon is cut down every 15 minutes.

"the West's attacks on Libya were about water and oil reserves"-Chavez...

Not sure if its about water. Have to look into that one. Although I know it isn't about protecting civilians. If we are so worried about protecting civilians from Qadaffi, why didn't we attack Israel when they killed 2000 civilians in Gaza? The answer: We had nothing to gain from helping Gaza, but we're in bed with Israel, on a lot of stuff including oil. Google AIPAC and read this link in your spare time
http://www.strike-the-root.com/62/johnson/johnson14.html

So I can't say I fully agree with Chavez. but lets face it, he does make some sense here.

Not much of a defence against misinformation, which seemed to be the point of your OP (assuming there was a point).
