Depends on context but for use on the forums the two words are mostly fungible. Since I am a card carrying old fogie, I chose the geriatric answer for the poll.

Has AARP card, will travel.

Like BitaTruble said, it depends on the context.

I see that a dictionary is in your future gift receiving experiences. :D

Oxford Dictionaries definition:

generality(gen·er·al·i·ty)

Pronunciation:/ˌjenəˈralitē, /
noun (plural generalities)

*
1 a statement or principle having general rather than specific validity or force:he confined his remarks to generalities
*
the quality or state of being general:policy should be formulated at an appropriate level of generality
*
2 (the generality) the majority:appropriate to the generality of laymen

generalization(gen·er·al·i·za·tion)

Pronunciation:/ˌjenərəliˈzāSHən, /
noun

*
a general statement or concept obtained by inference from specific cases:he was making sweeping generalizations
*
the action of generalizing:such anecdotes cannot be a basis for generalization

Many posters here are American, which means that (a) they use English differently, (b) they spell certain words differently, (c) have their own words for things (d) they speak with funny-sounding accents and (e) cannot pronounced Warwick or Iraq correctly to save their lives (they say Eye-Rack, what's an eye-rack when it's at home?)

*removes tongue from cheek*

Generally I give everyone here free passage and focus on the communication.

what's an eye-rack when it's at home?

The Spanish Inquisition used them to extract confessions from heretics.

can we add an option for "gerbera-daisically"?

Gerbera-daisically speaking, we're all speaking in gerbera-daisicalities.

(DeviantlyD broke it down pretty nicely. Either is acceptable, depending on context.)

Both, from www.dictionary. com

Generality: an indefinite, unspecific, or undetailed statement

Generalization: The act or process of generalizing
