Then why didn't Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson get the nomination when they ran?

Well, as Richard Pryor would have said, "'they're' crazy."

Obama wasn't scary, and he was clean and articulate. [8|]

NihilusZero -> RE: Is America a racist country ? (3/24/2011 10:20:13 PM)

The US doesn't really intend to be a racist country. It just thinks that it's head and shoulders above all those peasant countries.

Obama is not actually black.

This is the best stupidity I've read in some time!

Do you guys really think Obama won the Presidency just because he was black?

He wouldnt have even won the nomination if he werent black.

Gosh golly Willbeur, I'm so glad to know that this whole thing really isn't about his race.

What "whole thing"? It was asked if he won just because he was black, of course the question was about race. And the answer therefore has to be about race, and it is the correct answer. A white man with his paucity of experience would have had zero chance of winning the nomination. If you think otherwise then youre simply denying reality. Ask Geraldine Ferraro.
Just how much National political experience did Lincoln have?
Had Kennedy really accomplished all that much either?
Just 2 examples off the top of my head.While arguments can be made regarding levels of experience....certainly those two names alone show willbe's claim of "zero chance" to be another in a long line of foolish claims

Why do you equate an assessment of the role race played in the election, with support or opposition of the President's policies and qualifications?

I don't know Richie.

Why don't we take a look back at Willbeur's post and see if we can discover the answer.

That's the "of course I'm joking" face at the end of that sentence right? M

No negro dialect, unless he wants one.

No. That's the "I'm rolling my eyes because the guy who said the "clean and articulate" part about President Obama wound up as the Vice-President" face

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: Is America a racist country ? (3/24/2011 10:44:04 PM)

<<<---- On no he didin't! *hands to hips*

ETA: Thanks for explaining. Heretic, there is no offense in making a mistake in one's speech, and even saying something potentially offensive, if your behavior has always shown you to be a kind, educated, egalitarian, generous person.

It's easy to ask, so what do you do to your hair, to get it straightened, and why? It's entirely another to say "what did you expect, from that nappy headed ho!" M

That was an answer to the question.

It is because many people define him based on his race rather than his qualifications.

TheHeretic -> RE: Is America a racist country ? (3/24/2011 11:03:43 PM)

So you were just taking an opportunity to fling around the race card. Got it

I think that pretty much says it all.

But at least you admit it, unlike so many who pretend his race is not why they are so opposed to him.

Will you learn to read? I oppose him because he's a fucking idiot. I wouldnt care if hes white, green or orange.

Explain how someone flings around the race card ...in a thread where the subject is race?
Better yet explain how one doesn't.

Why even ask this?  I think in this day and age we are one of the least racist countries....You are an idiot to ask that question..but then again..I have wanted to ask about you in your responses to other threads here if you are mentally sound..so I guess it doesn't matter....

Forgive him, he's not American. Which of course doesnt preclude him from being an idiot or mentally unsound.

So let me get this straight, you go on a lengthy rant about how he was elected because he was black and then claim your opposition to him has nothing to do with that?

Termyn8or -> RE: Is America a racist country ? (3/24/2011 11:17:09 PM)

Jumped totally through An. Yes we are. People do their damndest to hide it but facts are facts.

We go out in public and into fora, wherever and know how to mind our manners, much like a child who knows what the bad words are and when not to use them, but when we get home watch out. Don't get in earshot lest you'll be appalled.

Anyone who says anything else is full of shit.

Youve got it straight. And if you had a logical syanpse in your head you wouldnt have needed to be nursed along to that understanding. And its not a "claim", it is a fact. I couldnt care less what the skin color of a a socialist asswipe is...they are all pink to me. And if you think that is an untenable relationship, tell it to Bill Clinton, who also said the reason Obama was getting the nomination was because he is black.
