ORIGINAL: popeye1250 Panda, mnottertail (Ron) comes out with some outragious B.S. and talks like he comes from outter space a lot but he's "our" Bumpkin. Also, Al Franken counted on the votes of those semi-literate bumpkins to get elected. They're not the ones who voted for Franken, though. The Bachmann-heads went for his opponent, Coleman. Franken drew from the educated, upper-middle class portion of the electorate. I think a lot of us (myself included) are very surprised at what a good senator he's turning out to be. Panda, but there's a lot more, "stupid, un-educated bumpkins" than there are "educated upper middle class portion." Now, if Franken is voting the way "The People" want him to vote and *not voting* the way "he" wants to vote, or voting on what "he" thinks is right or,.....worst of all; "voting my conscience" then he *will* be a good Senator. Simple stuff, they're in office to vote the way their *constituents* want them to vote not the way they "think" they should vote or the way that big money "special interest groups" want them to vote.. Now here in S. Carolina there's a Yahoo site called "500,000 voters who want Lindsey Graham out of office" or something to that effect because he voted "for" "amnesty" for illegal aliens because a lot of his money comes from homebuilders, golf courses and other businesses that want to continue using cheap illegal alien labor. He wouldn't even talk about them! "That's not relevant" he told one reporter. He had an absolute "nobody" run against him and the nobody got about 40% of the vote so he's extremely vulnerable in 2014! Now Lindsey Graham is an example of a bad senator who doesn't *listen* to The People. And he's going to pay for it in 2014. All you have to do is mention his name here and people scowl. I hope Al Franken does listen to The People and vote accordingly and he'll be a good senator. It used to be that congressmen and senators would send survey forms out to all their constituents asking them what they thought on differant issues and after tabulating the figures that's how they'd vote. I'd like to see that again in this country. How Democratic. It's funny, Al Franken could be a much better senator than he ever was a "comedian." I tried to watch him on a few occaisions and it was like watching paint dry. P.S. When I lived in Massachusetts even the low i.q.'d Rep. "Fast Eddy" "The Ice Cream Man" Markey (D. 7th Ma.) sent those survey forms out. You know who we never got one from? Ted Kennedy. You would be a great example of the color tinted line. When educated people vote someone in to office they do not expect him to run a poll prior to voting on every issue.Rather they have taken the measure of the man prior to voting, satisfy themselves about his positions, his character and so forth.... Than at that point, they do in fact expect him to vote his conscience .An elected official, who is doing his job,can no more take his marching orders from, a fickle and easily mislead, public ...than take them from big business. He is supposed to do what is right,as he see's it,Rather than what is expedient as some poll would determine it to be.
