joether -> This one should be on Fail Blog! (3/28/2011 11:23:08 PM)

You have heard of the site Fail Blog right? Its a site that shows mostly images and some videos of stupid and foolish humans, doing very stupid and foolish things; and most of us feel better for not being so stupid or foolish.

Just recently, former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich announced at Cornerstone Church the following:

quote:

Source

"I have two grandchildren — Maggie is 11, Robert is 9," Gingrich said at Cornerstone Church here. "I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they're my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American."

I dont know about any of you, but isn't a nation that is secular, one that ISN'T dominated by another religion/philosophy? If the USA becomes a secular nation, wouldn't that mean the politicians would also more likely be secular in their religion/philosophy? Is Mr. Gingrich basing his comments on reality; or just mere fearmongering that's commonly spoken from Republican canidates for Federal office?

I'm not sure whether to 'ROTFLMAO' or cringe at the utter insanity of conservatives to dumb and retarded to really think on what Mr. Gingrich just said.

I guess we can just file this one with all the calls to keep the government's hands off my medicare.

tweakabelle -> RE: This one should be on Fail Blog! (3/28/2011 11:36:28 PM)

.... or is he trying to invent an image of himself as a 'family' man, concerned about his kids and grandkids, while avoiding mention of his own slimy record in the area?

This is the same paragon of 'family values' that was off bonking other women while his wife #1 was (I think) dying in hospital with cancer. Just in case you think it a momentary aberration, he did an encore with the Wife #2, deserting her while she was undergoing a health crisis for another fling ......

Please pardon my cynicism.

QFT.

He's a cynical pig who thinks it's just perfect for him to talk of "family values" while having no scruples of his own. When questioned about the discrepancy, he said it didn't matter what he did. I soooo hope he is the Republican front runner!!

Does it matter?

Gingrich, Palin, Bachmann, Huckabee?

The leading Republican candidates so far are a pretty sad collection.

You do have a point, there!!

Indeed.

Wow, their must really be nothing to bash the GOP about today. Try putting an "or" between "country" and "potentially".

Try putting there in place of their.

Just looking at where he was, "The Cornerstone Church" is stomach turning enough.  There may be a few equals but you can't find a more hateful man behind a pulpit.

We are waiting for them to do something constructive and useful
so far...zilch.
how many jobs have they added to the employment figures?
How many underprivileged are happy with the cuts they have been making in the various states, what about that budget??
still talking about shutting the govmnt down, yeah thats really newsworthy
but this has been the same since january
we HAVE to give you something to whine about
or you would disapear in a poof of smoke

LaTigresse -> RE: This one should be on Fail Blog! (3/29/2011 11:21:45 AM)

I don't know about anywhere else but the cuts our new/old Repub governor has made, is deleting jobs.

I am impressed.

Walker in Wisconsin is racking up an impressive count of jobs lost in his state. He cancelled a high speed rail project which caused the foreign company that was going to open a factory in Wisconsin to build rail cars to pull out then he pushed through changes to wind farm citing rules that caused at least one large project to be canceled.

Joether, Gingrich? Reeeeeeeach way up for that low-hanging fruit!
Him and Hucklebee are going nowhere.

People who are kept poor and ignorant are easier to rule.

Would you think it was that so much as their self interest (the green kind) is over-riding their decisions?

Indeed, this holds up mathematically and not just as conventional wisdom or a general feeling.  This far out from the election, the favorability number (favorable minus unfavorable) for the top candidate in each party:
2000 Republican:  Bush +47
2000 Democrat:  Bradley +22
2004 Republican:  Bush +33
2004 Democrat:  Lieberman +18
2008 Republican:  Giuliani +30
2008 Democrat:  Obama +25

2012 Republican:  Huckabee +8.  Romney +4 is the only other Republican whose popularity has been regularly surveyed and is above 0.  (Palin is an impressive -23.  Newt is -14, Bachmann -9.)

Don't forget dependent upon government for their basic needs, Hill.

Gingrich is an asshole.
