Birth certificate thing was smart move from Trump. Whatever the substance is does not matter. After all, if he runs for the office, he will face Chicago mafia and army of left wing propaganda and spin masters. Offense is the best defense.  Trump has a potential to make a substantial difference in the race, as he would be the only independent  visible (due to having money)  candidate. He would force real substantive debate. The other candidates (esp. Obama) will do everything to avoid the last.

Chicago mafia?

Have you ever watched FOX News?

Turn it on some time and then come back and tell me about propaganda and spin masters.

But my real question is why conservatives seem to gravitate to these losers that end up hosting ridiculous reality shows and then you somehow believe they are capable of running the country.

Trump is Ross Perot lite.  Similarities in private wealth driving his bid, but with half the business success track record.

He has no business success track record.

He inherited his wealth and managed to have to declare bankruptcy three times.

I could fill up a page with his other business failures without even going into the bankruptcies.

He's a clown who has relied on his family's connections to bail him out whenever he got in over his head, which he constantly does.

Your description is not fully accurate. Donald Trump is listed worth 2.7 Billion? It does not happen just by chance and "family connections". At least he knows how to play the system. At least he does something real for living as opposed to giving speeches. I do not fully agree he would have no appeal as a candidate. All depends what the conditions will be a year from now. Obama may have then only very small minority  brain dead "true believers" democrats on his side, and Republicans may have somebody unelectable (like N. Gingrich) as a front runner.

Yeah, that's exactly what we need.

Someone who knows how to "play the system".

Can you say Richard Nixon?

This is what you have at least 20 years. I am not campaigning for Trump.  I would see him on stage just for disrupting the routine nonsense purposes. There is no hope.

Actually appreciation on his inheritance, valued at 50 Million but it was mostly in NYC real estate, and his income from projects he "managed" at his father's old firm should be more than his present wealth. He has barely stayed ahead of inflation and he presently owes more money than he's worth.

truckinslave -> RE: THe Trump makes the Beck Uncomfortable! (4/3/2011 8:02:02 AM)

I agree completely, and think a Trump candidacy would be a very good thing. He lacks the professional, industrial-grade filter politicians have, and just lets the words flow... More than just refreshing, it's appealing. When he talks tough about the Chinese, and others, he finds ears... and some of those ears will be blue-collar Dims.
He will swing the debate in unpredictable directions, and for unpredictable distances.
He asked Billy O something like: "I could do worse than what we have right now"?

Take the fight to the enemy, Donald. I hope he runs.

You need some math lessons.

50 mil to 2.7 bil is not exactly "staying ahead of inflation".

When he talks tough on the Chinese does that include using their money to finance his projects?

The answer is Yes Donald you could do much much worse.

It'll actually be pretty funny to watch someone at a rally tell him "your fired".

It includes his pointing out that China is the biggest user of Libyan oil, that we are borrowing money from the Chinese to protect their economy.

Perhaps he and 0bama0 do share a penchant for Chinese money; but I bet the Donald would spend it more wisely. I don't see him telling Bernancke to bail out foreign banks with American stimulus money.
Gotta stimulate the world

Why doesn't Obama just put an end to this birther nonsense and make his birth certificate public.?

typical of a person that does not possess the ability to seek the truth.

A Trump run would be exactly what the Obama camp is praying for.

a unelectable moron running against him.

I got it,  they're bad unless they are developing his projects.

50 million in 1966. 2.7 billion in 2011. That's a rate of growth of just over 9%. So like I said only slightly ahead of inflation.

truckinslave -> RE: THe Trump makes the Beck Uncomfortable! (4/3/2011 10:11:05 AM)

I have not heard Trump say the Chinese are "bad".

I have heard him say that the nation has borrowed too much money from them.
I have also heard him say that we owe them so much that it gives us the leverage, if we would only use it.
He's a refreshing perspective on the national scene.

truckinslave -> RE: THe Trump makes the Beck Uncomfortable! (4/3/2011 10:12:53 AM)

I gotta admit that sounds like a dim wet dream.

Sorta like Kucinich/Dean.

Bullshit,he is a self aggrandizing, egotistical businessman with absolutely no experience whatsoever in governance .
As a businessman his stock in trade is that of being a bully. How would that translate to success in an arena where others not only have their own opinions, but the leverage to exert that opinion.
He is ,as a candidate,a joke....and anyone who advocates for his inclusion into national politics as ,quite frankly,a fucking asshole.
No offense meant....and I mean that, but seriously advocating for a Trump candidacy is a ridiculous stance for a supposed grown man to take.
How very,very sad.

truckinslave -> RE: THe Trump makes the Beck Uncomfortable! (4/3/2011 10:26:38 AM)

Using the "inflation calculator" on measuringworth.com one can get figures from 27,000,000 to 931,000,000 when trying to determine what 500,000 in 1966 is in todays money. The most common method of figuring the effects of inflation- the CPI- yields 336,000,000.

How did you decide the average inflation rate was almost 9%?
