I thought this thread was about something majestic and interesting... Me.

Instead it's just you avian sycophants fawning over some feathery pieces of flying garbage.

They are all your children, Jesus. I can see it in the way they move their heads and blink their leathery eyes.

Here are some recent photos from a trip this morning to the Swan Falls / Snake River Birds of Prey area in SW Idaho. Half way down in this post are links to some images I shot in Hells Canyon on the Idaho / Oregon border on Easter day

Eagle Nabs Poodle, Delivers it to Retirement Home

(NewsCore) - Her name is May, and she may well be the feel-good story of the month. May is an 18lb (8kg) toy poodle found in the grounds of a nursing home in Sechelt, British Columbia (BC).

While no one saw her arrive, deep talon marks in her back and sides strongly suggest she was the unwilling passenger of a hungry eagle for some time until being dropped from the sky, the Vancouver Sun reported Monday.

Found by staff at the nursing home, about 43 miles (70km) northwest of Vancouver, she was taken to the nearby Sunshine Coast SPCA, who are crediting the bird of prey with saving May's life.

Speaking of eagles, the Decorah Eaglets are growing by leaps and bounds. They feed and groom themselves, clear up the nest, and flex their huge wings constantly. I cannot wait until they fledge.

Ahhhh so peaceful. Man, they're gorgeous.

Boise's new peregrine chicks will be banded on Sunday

A team will put leg bands on the four peregrine falcon chicks recently hatched in their nest on the 14th floor ledge of One Capital Center.

As ever, the public will be able to keep up with the live action via the "falconcam": http://www.peregrinefund.org/falconcam/.

The banding team will head up to the nest at 9 a.m. Sunday morning to put an identification band on each chick. The band numbers will be submitted to a central registry so that if any of the birds are found or captured later, their numbers can be recorded and tracked. Scientists use this information to research such things as raptor survival, behavior, and migration patterns. The team will also measure the chicks to determine their gender.

Because the chicks are wild birds, no one has visited the nest box since the adult birds moved in. Banding is the only time that the team will visit the nest. The team consists of Bruce Haak from the Idaho Fish and Game Department, Jack Cafferty from The Peregrine Fund, and Ed Levine, a Boise falconer. The three have experience banding hundreds of birds over the course of several years.
