Sanity -> RE: Republicans for death panels? WTF??? (4/6/2011 6:13:31 AM)

Try reading the thread, and youll realize I was replying to a point raised by jfl. There is a little thing called context that you may find truly amazing...

Its unrealistic to pretend that we can do without our military in times like these, or that Dems dont like to play world cop. These defense expenses are more likely saving us money than costing us because its far cheaper to have a deterrence than to have to go to war for a lack of deterrence.

Again, it would be nice to see our allies shoulder their fair share of the defense load for a change.

What does the military and 'world cop' even have to do with the frakking topic, Sanity? Is that your best attempt at a rebuttal on why the USA shouldn't cut medicare and medicaid? Or reduce Social Security further?

Even though your arguements are generally mindless and irrelvent, stick to the topic.

From one of your own....its indefensible. If they don't change things we should make them by taking it out of their salaries....

Just raise revenues?

Take money from people / businesses?

Why do you think the government (Obama) tried spending trillions on 'stimulus programs' to put more money in peoples and businesses hands during the recession.

Pretty simple from where I sit. Raise revenues.....Never ever, EVER going to cut your way to prosperity. Cut the Bush tax cuts out for the wealthy. Impose a sales tax on all stock transactions. Impose a 30% export fee on foodstuffs leaving this country........

And how about the question about grandma.....you pushing her to the street after her benefits run out?

Trillions spent on on the 'stimulus programs', eh? There was more than one Recovery and Reinvestment Act? And that the R&RA was worth 'trillions'? Maybe you should get your FACTS STRAIGHT! That was the only bill passed under what conservatives dubbed 'stimulus' for a total of $787 Billion. Now, last I checked my mathematics, $787 Billion is LESS then 'Trillions'.

You do know why that bill was enacted, right, Sanity? Oh, forgot, you failed at 'Recent US History', didnt you? It was to keep the country from plunging into a Depression, similar to the Great Depression. Since we are currently not in a Depression, I would have to say it was money well spent. We could have listen to Republicans (like we did for years before) and be in a Depression right now. Would you prefer the nation in a Depression, Sanity? 'Yes' or 'No'?

Just removing the Bush era tax cuts, would solve about 80% of the current deficit problems immediately. From there, raising taxes would bring the budget in to balanced mode. Then, we could start paying down the US Debt. Once the economy is good (and it will be), and that debt is down to a pokey $2 Trillion, we could entertain the idea of reducing taxes.

ArizonaBossMan -> RE: Republicans for death panels? WTF??? (4/6/2011 6:24:22 AM)

we do not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. Period. It isn't difficult, unless you are about power and control. Then you are a democrat and the tax system for you is your personal booty stash, used to punish enemies and reward friends. Quite simple really. Oh the wealthy the wealthy. Gotta be a libtard if you are all about separating races and classes. It's just how they are. Your dear leader, by the way, would have you define anybody wealthy as a person with a job who actually, oh I don't know, follows the rules and saves their money? If you want money, get thee to the local democrat party headquarters. Bring your begging clothes and change bucket. They have the loot.

The topic is the cutting of the budget. Several posters have suggested that we cut defense before we cut m/m. He is responding to that point. Maybe if you cut back on some of the hate for the right, you would be able to focus on what is being said.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Republicans for death panels? WTF??? (4/6/2011 6:27:04 AM)

This from arizona. Enjoy eating the fucking cactus. And, mind, when that group of young hispanics grow up in 10 years and starts to vote....say goodbye to your "benefits"

Sanity -> RE: Republicans for death panels? WTF??? (4/6/2011 6:28:59 AM)

Again, dyb - its the Dems who are being vicious to grandma, by spending more than we take in at outrageous levels, thereby raising the national debt so incredibly high that soon we will owe more on interest than we can possibly pay.

Ever heard of the word 'default'? If we fail to cut spending in a meaningful way, at some point in the near future the Dems chickens will come home to roost and the cuts will be deeper, and they wont be nearly as pretty.

So, you aren't going to answer the question then......are you that much of a coward that you can't stand up and say what you are for or not for?

Please show us where in Post # 71 (that's your post, to which I'm blasting you on) states that you are rebutting jfl? If you were replying to him, wouldn't it make sense to put that into your post? That way, it tells all of us, your are objecting to something specific, rather then (as I noted) something 'out in left field' of an arguement.

Jfl's arguement is that in each and every Republican budget plan, cuts are made into typical things (healthcare, education, etc) and not a penny into the defense budget. He noted in some examples, the Republican's budgets INCREASE funding. Which he (and I too) thought was odd, coming from a group bitching that Democrats dont want to cut spending, but increase it.

Address the point joe, why pass out stimulus dollars only to turn around and raise taxes?

What the hell is the point in that

I wouldn't get to worked up over the sock puppet. It's either one of the right wing loons who is sick of being ignored or one of the left wing loons who is trying to make the right look bad. Either way, he is not worth you stressing out over.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Republicans for death panels? WTF??? (4/6/2011 6:37:28 AM)

Naw....just answered waiting on sanity to reply what he is actually going to do when granny runs out of benefits per paul ryans budget......I hope he has the nuggets to answer but I am not holding my breath

Yeah, cus the Republicans are so 'pro-healthcare' for the bottom 98% of income earners in the United States, right?

Get real, Sanity. Republicans would like to scrap healthcare, and then forget it even existed. They care about as much for the bottom 98% of income earners in this country as they do of life on Jupiter.

No caps. Granny paid her dues and deserves to live her days out in whatever peace can be found in a nursing home. Revenues, have to be raised....
