"kinetic humanitarian aid"

Ok, not much of a post, but I saw this and nearly fell over laughing.

It kinda sums up the "official" position of the United States for its actions in Libya. [:D]

So what the fuck does it mean? Are we airlifting in whips, gags and dildos?

Hillwilliam -> RE: "kinetic humanitarian aid" (4/5/2011 1:06:58 PM)

It means bombing crap out of people (hopefully the bad guys)

There was an incident a couple of days ago where a group was firing a heavy machine gun into the air and they got bombed by a coalition airceaft that mistook their celebration for anti aircraft fire and (justifiably in my opinion) targeted them.

For people who are almost out of ammo, they sure piss a lot of it away firing into the air.

There is nothing kinky (that is what kinetic means, right? [&:] ) or humanitarian about bombing people.

Seriously, I hate euphemisms. They are, as far as I'm concerned, a tacit admission that the truth is feared.

Sorry, marc, kinetic means in motion.

One of the more common uses of the term in this subject is "Kinetic Energy Weapon" as Mass x Velicity = Energy.

Some modern weapons dont even use explosives to destroy their target. Modern anti armor weapons are frequently just a bolt of high density metal (Depleted Uranium or Tungsten) fired into the target at a REALLY high velocity. The extreme energy release on contact literally burns a hole thru the armor and when that high energy plasma hits the crew compartment, it isn't pretty.

I've grossly oversimplified it but I hope you get the idea.

Trivia quiz right back atcha ...

Who gives a shit?

It's humorous, not official, and I'm not making a partisan attack, just playing with words in a political context.

Go look for ammo and victims elsewhere.

Your funny when your all belligerent.

Don't you mean playing with other people s words?  It's not like you thought this up all by yourself.  Your just parroting what your favorite right wing blogs told you.

It was not like it really needed embellishment.  The original statement from the White House staff of "Kinetic Military Action"  was dumb enough on its own.

Well I'm going to do some "vigorous kinetic voting" in 2012.

MAKE KINETIC LOVE! NOT KINETIC WAR!

truckinslave -> RE: "kinetic humanitarian aid" (4/6/2011 6:31:18 AM)

When President Hussein (theirs) put aircraft beside hospitals and such we stripped the munitions from laser-guided missiles and guided them into their targets as bricks.....

Whatever "kinetic humanitarian aid" means, it sure seems to have befuddled poor truckin'.

Does any one think that's an achievement?

mnottertail -> RE: "kinetic humanitarian aid" (4/6/2011 2:32:05 PM)

kinetically?  not really.

stellauk -> RE: "kinetic humanitarian aid" (4/6/2011 4:17:38 PM)

Does this add any new meaning to Dylan's song 'Blowin' in the wind'?

TheHeretic -> RE: "kinetic humanitarian aid" (4/6/2011 6:02:27 PM)

Every time I see this thread title, I think of that classic episode of WKRP where they dropped turkeys to the crowd from a helicopter.
