Its not a theory.

The money could have better served someone who was actually struggling to survive, who needed to work and go to school, try to find childcare and who wanted to go to college but was forced to put it off because of having a child. Someone who knew what kind of real struggles most teen Moms go through. I don't know (or care) about Bristol's aspirations but I'm fairly certain they will be well funded by Mommy's money.

Since when has money been distributed on a need basis....not saying I disagree, but it is a pipedream.

YoungBlondeSlave -> RE: Brilstol Palin - 262K payday for being teen mom hypocrite (4/6/2011 10:55:03 AM)

It certainly is a pipe dream. I agree. It'll never happen, but it would have been nice...for once.

So because her mommy has money, she shouldn't be paid? Does this go for any child of a wealthy parent and where do I sign up for the income they will be donating?

slvemike4u -> RE: Brilstol Palin - 262K payday for being teen mom hypocrite (4/6/2011 11:15:43 AM)

Uh,I do believe she came back and admitted it was just a pipe dream....I suppose her next post might just be..."a girl can dream, can't she"
Try not to tell her no,okay boi?

Lucylastic -> RE: Brilstol Palin - 262K payday for being teen mom hypocrite (4/6/2011 11:22:48 AM)

I just took it that boi thought little pig with lipstick was worth  all that cash for her name and position..which for anyone else would be looked down upon by certain sections of society(hypocrites)

No, I wouldn't say that. But then again I wouldn't say that about most of the celebrities that earn high paychecks.

and yes mike I see the pipe dream after I posted. I suppose I should have gone back and edited, but I can be very lazy some times. My bad and no I wouldn't tell anyone not to dream. I do it all the time.

Here is the problem as I see with this issue. Bristol like her mother, profess being a Christian, and quite deeply. In some regards I can respect that. But if one complains about people going against God's will (i.e. sin), shouldn't it stand to reason they hold themselves to an even higher level of accountability? Bristol seems as remorseful of committing the sin, as she is sorry for taking the money. Again, the Palin family preachs some pretty tough Christian ideals and standards without an ounce of empathy or compassion. What I am trying to say here folks is, would we have taken her more seriously had she taken no money or an extremely tiny amount (a few thousand dollars)? Or better yet, taken a large amount of the earnings, and donated it to charities that want to keep unwed, single mothers to a minimal (i.e. promoting marriage among young adults)?

As it stands now, the only 'real' Christian ideal I can see 'Mama Grizzle' has given her eldest offspring, is that of 'Greed'.

I get your point but needed to say that greed is one of the Christian Seven Deadly Sins

I would absolutely have more respect for Bristol had she donated her "earning" to an appropriate charity.

I think dual spokeswomen would be a good idea - Bristol for her star power draw and someone who has actually suffered from lack of abstinence to speak about the everyday reality of being an unwed teenage mother.

Here's another pipe dream - pay the speaker by performance tied to every point the unwed teenage mother statistics go down :)

As far as rapacity goes... that's something relatively new.  Fifty years ago, there was a strong implication that self-denial was required for salvation.  Jesus once said something to the effect that it was easier to put a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven.

That's changed now.  While Catholic priests and nuns are expected to live in self-denial, including chastity as well as poverty, some of the Protestant denominations seem to gloat over their reverends earning big bucks.

That said, I have no issue with Bristol earning the big bucks as much as I do that someone thinks she's worth it.  Also, it bothers me that a high school dropout 20 year old would be considered an authority on anything, and her past history doesn't scream abstinence to me.  AFAIK, she's never recanted her previous errors as much as assumed they either don't exist or are irrelevant..
