Roberts Gates says they are awaiting a "decision" by the Iraqi govt. as to whether U.S. Troops stay beyond Dec of this year.
Funny, I didn't realize that foreign countries could decide where our Troops go.

There is no shooting the messenger, since there is no message to convey, and no fairy tales to consider the moral of.

I think he missed this part. I mean it was only the title.

Some US Troops May Stay if Iraq Wants

I made a few highlights for emphasis which may help his comprehension, but probably not.  Moderate Independents have those types of problems.

FLC, "some" is the whole gist of the article.
"A Presance?" Does Gates mean like,.....S. Korea, for 60 years?
And since when does our government let foreign countries "decide" how many and where our Troops will go?
And does Gates mean "Iraq" or....."Exon/Mobil?"
Isn't Oblunder supposed to be,....."The Decider?"
Read between the lines of that article.

You're saying we should stay in Iraq even if the government of Iraq wants us out?

Unless your idea is that we weren't 'invited' (by some confluence of circumstance) in to free them, and it was an out and out imperialistic invasion..... they would have a say, n'est ces pas?

Maybe, just maybe, it might have to do with the whole war thing.  The whole "What do we do after we send in the troops" wasn't thought out very well.

Remind me please,  who came up with that plan?

No, I'm not saying that at all, I expect Oblunder to keep his word and have "all" Troops out by December.
Why should Iraq have any say in that matter?
And if Exon/Mobil needs security there then let (them) hire those Blackhawk guys-private security and not use U.S. Troops.

A few years back, I was sitting during My break from work, reading the paper.

On one page, the article was talking about troops being reduced in one country.  They were coming home!  The very next was talking about deployment to somewhere else.  Imagine My disappointment.  In that moment, I remember the sinking feeling that, for My family, it might never end.  The names might change, but the War continues.

Wrap your head around it, folks.  It's hard, but the sooner that you accept it, the better off you will be.

...and the definition changes too.   My BIL has about had it with whiners-  he says "dont sign up, if you dont want to go".    As mean as that may sound- he has a point.

Maybe people won't be so quick to enlist or get them that "free education" in the National Guard.

No fun to study with a brain injury.
