I've always wondered why individuals are caught up in the revolutions of the wheel while they should really be focused on the axle on which the wheel turns.

Yes, I am being obtuse on purpose. Blame it on ornery rotten-ness and being tired.

I guess I should make some sort of point:

Sometimes I see tractors carrying large amounts of cardboard to a recycling plant to be processed in order to be green. The irony is that these tractors have a wonderful 8.5 (the models i've seen) miles per gallon of diesel fuel.

There is plenty of spin but the center of that thought makes no sense.

Supposedly-with the advent of cellphones and internet-we are more interconnected than ever. I am at a loss with the cellphone game and because of this I see many people glued to the screens of their texting devices or plugged in to some sort of distant conversation. Often ignoring the local flesh and blood and preventing new friendships and waylaying common civility (in terms of the internet as well).

The wheels are turning but is progress actually being made?

I could go on with plenty of examples.

Modern society is labeled as materialistic. If that were the case wouldn't we respect the very matter we work with instead of trashing it?

There are so many random things humans do it gives me pause. The wheel appears to be moving forward but this could be an optical illusion.

Why does it appear to me that the wheels are moving backwards?

Yes people live longer but now there are less resources.
We work so hard to live life more efficiently.
