I do like it, though I was interested more so as a teenager. I'm by no means an expert, and I've never dealt with show dogs even cursorily, but it is an interest of mine. The pack dynamic is fascinating, and the little connections you see between canine behavior and human behavior can be quite illuminating.

It isn't often that i get to indulge my interest in these subjects on this venue. One usually encounters the fetish aspects but rarely its purer forms which offers intriguing comparisons as you've noted. my daughter contemplated training as a junior handler, but the time investment would have conflicted with golf which was her priority. However, my desires never waned but it does require some lifestyle alterations and the abandonment of city living to set in motion. Though truthfully, most owners rarely train the dogs. They're usually handed off to a professional and remain in their care and return home for periodic visits.

Growing up my father always had hunting dogs, and even though I don't hunt it gave me the chance to deal with very smart but very headstrong dogs. Whenever I go home for a visit I always take them hiking and go through all the various commands. I fear their training has suffered for my absence, however [;)]

Is that where you honed your skill for the two-legged types? [;)]

It's definitely been a positive factor lol. Animals are so much less complex; it makes for a good start in the right direction because you see the subconscious submissive tendencies in people before you get bogged down in all the personal complications.
