For those of you who are familiar with ponyplay; do you consider your pony (or ponies) to be more for sex or for work?

For instance, say you have a healthy, strong submissive pony.  Gender doesn't matter.  Would you prefer to use them for 'work' purposes?  These would be things like cart-driving, dressage, or if the pony is strong enough, even riding.  Or would you simply prefer to dress them up in pretty pony-gear; things like ears and plug-tails; and have sex with them that way?

Does gender make a difference that way?  Some people think of ponyboys as being all work-horses, while ponygirls are more for sexual purposes.

I don't currently have ponies of my own. However, I'd want my pony to be part of a fuller relationship as my submissive, as well. When they were all tricked out in pony gear, they would be used for work, and hopefully stay in the mindset of a horse. When I wanted kinky playtime or sex, the regalia would be removed. The two aspects can't coexist at the same time, for me.

Gender doesn't make a difference, I'd be happy with a male or female, and would use them in the same ways.

Greetings,

i used to be a very huge pony aficionado that was primarily driven by my passion for horses and equestrian sports. However, the work horse element is what really turned me off. i think there's a big difference in donning attire to lend the appearance of an animal and being expected to function like one. And of the activities named, i wouldn't consider dressage to be as labor intensive as the others. It is better relegated to showcasing than work in all truth. i think that is the idea many have in mind when they initially discover the fetish.

Namaste,

~porcelaine

I'm pretty much with porcelaine on this - I've never done pony play but it's something I've been peripherally interested in and I think the actual work horse bit would be outside my realm of enjoyment. I'd prefer to put her in the gear and go through dressage and 'show horse' kinds of things followed by sex than having her function as farm equipment. I don't even make my actual horse pull carts, after all.

Pony play is something that has fascinated me for some time.  I think the show aspect can really be rewarding for the Master/Mistress and they can be very proud of the intensive and demanding training it takes to finish and perfect such training.  <G>.   Pulling a cart?  Hmmm that could be fun if they had another M/s couple into it and could *drive* together........ or perhaps that might just be better left as an unfullfilled fantasy lol.

Exactly. There are quite a few events you can enter and dressage is very involved if one understands the sport. It spotlights elegance for both and the synchronization between the rider and animal. It's a beautiful thing to see and the symmetry is amazing when well performed.

But now you've sparked my curiosity. What breed is your horse? If you don't mind the question of course.

Namaste,

Personally I consider pony play to be more pleasing aesthetically, donning a pet with all the leather and pony gear is very attractive.  I find it more sexually intriguing rather than having them carrying things around.

The attire is sexy so dressing them up is a must ;) Sex, ofc. Although I don't really have any interest in a pony pulling carts or doing chores.

My own sexual orientation has made me biased in the case of your last question...
Grrrl ponies would definitely make for great sexual purposes
Males...contradicting my earlier comments it would make more sense that they be the 'all work-horses'.

Re Palliata's not even using her real horse to pull a cart. Neither have I but I've always wanted to learn pleasure driving. I think it's the hats that the female drivers get to wear. Absolutely spectacular.

And no interest in pony play because we've had real ones.

Had 3 "polymino" pony girls.
Some people tend to like either public or private.
I liked to work them and then fuck them . . . in public on display and in private.

Can anyone say "stump training" and not get a big smile?

Not at all. She's a registered quarter horse; bay mare. I never really got good enough as a rider to get into shows and dressage and so forth, sadly, but she has the breeding for it.

Oh that's lovely. Do you plan to add more in the future? Two of my previous partners were huge horse lovers. One as an owner and the other shared my passion for equestrian sports and racing. Although i lack the facilities to house a horse, we do have a stable in the city where they can be boarded but i don't know if i'd do it. i have a great affinity for the Friesian, Palomino, and Trakehner.

Thank you for sharing. :)

It's a possibility. I do love horses, but I also like being able to bounce around the world on short notice so she ends up spending a lot of time with the trainer and not a lot with me. Adding another horse is probably not an especially great idea. That said, I would definitely love to have an Arabian at some point if ever I manage to stay in one place for more than a few months.

That's one of the big issues i keep in mind. my former partner didn't bring the horse here because she didn't travel well. But the family had property and a stable that allowed her to remain in familiar company. However, as you've mentioned, the care taking is a concern and additions are wonderful when one is settled. Hopefully our desires will come to fruition.

I've known one Arabian who was a sweetheart, calm and friendly. Most of them are high strung.

But I'm a fan of registered Quarter horses. They're so versatile and they just are patient as can be. They make great therapy animals also. Some horses hold grudges if you make mistakes, I've never known a quarter horse to do so though.

I will admit Arabians can be a bit high-strung, but at the same time they have a really beautiful look to them and a slightly different gait I find quite enjoyable. Honestly from a practical perspective a quarter horse is pretty hard to beat for most things, but variety is good.

It can be fun to have a new challenge, too, though like I say I'd want to wait until I have the time to dedicate to it. As I mentioned my current horse was trained when I got her and is maintained by others, and it is not the ideal situation. Having a trainer take care of it takes a lot of the fun out of it - just like with a slave, you might be able to gain a facsimile of submission with a pre-trained specimen, but they'll never really be 100% yours because you aren't the one that inspired submission in them. I watch horses with the people who trained them from colts, and I really think here's a bond that can't be recreated by other means.

I'd be curious to see how many doms enjoy horse or dog training. Obviously a person is different than an animal, but it seems like a similar urge. I might start a thread about that...

If you say you like dog training i'll be shocked. i always wanted to show standard poodles though i do enjoy the gait on afghans as well, but they don't win Westminster very often. You raise an interesting point and it's a connection i've never given any consideration to. Nevertheless, it's one worth pondering.

The Man has never interacted with the horses we've had. He won't even hold a lead rope. I think I got him to give the previous horse a peppermint once but that was it.

And although our late golden retriever accepted him as alpha, he doesn't have any real interest in dogs. I'm a golden retriever person myself.

He's a cat person if anything.

I heard or read a story somewhere, I can't remember where, in which a person belonging to one of the older bdsm groups, PEP (People Exchanging Power, based out of Arizona and founded by Nancy Ava Miller) went to a tack shop to buy some toys for a demo. She was either wearing a PEP button or the salesclerk asked her who she was with and she said, "Oh PEP." The clerk asked, "And what does that stand for?" Thinking fast, she said, "People Exchanging Ponies!"

I do like it, though I was interested more so as a teenager. I'm by no means an expert, and I've never dealt with show dogs even cursorily, but it is an interest of mine. The pack dynamic is fascinating, and the little connections you see between canine behavior and human behavior can be quite illuminating.

Growing up my father always had hunting dogs, and even though I don't hunt it gave me the chance to deal with very smart but very headstrong dogs. Whenever I go home for a visit I always take them hiking and go through all the various commands. I fear their training has suffered for my absence, however
