A system or marriage between capitalism and socialism is the only viable answer that I have seen for some time now. tazzy I've found many references to cuts...but no particulars...same with Obama...talk but no particulars....perhaps my google skills are lacking...seems sorta dumb to argue when many don't know what they are arguing about. Butch

That was tongue in cheek Marini, Im floored that you took that seriously. Why do you, why would anyone believe that governmental control would be better than capitalism in any way. Government also has the army and the police and prisons, throw in the hospitals (and especially the mental hospitals) and make it our employer as well, and our grocer, our nanny and our school teacher, and so on... and you are a turkey putting its head on a chopping block. The politicians and bureaucrats have absolute control in a situation like that, and there is no escape, and the sad part is that it happens. Thats what Iraq was like under Saddam, thats what Cuba and North Korea are like, each a "workers paradise". Peoples this and peoples that, everyone is kept in line for the greater good - of the dictator.

I am thinking of models like Canada, HARDLY Cuba and North Korea, don't get it twisted. Capitalism is failing in this country, if you don't see that now, perhaps you will in a few years. Sanity, start reading articles like this, and be set free. Politicians always want more and more power, youve got to fight for your liberty and guard it with our life because once you let it slip away its extremely difficult to ever get it back. Socialism creeps, politicians reach for more control "for the good of the children" or 'for the elderly" etc. Every manufactured and hyped crisis is an opportunity for the politicians to grab more power... In Canada theyve outlawed Fox News according to a few of the free speech hating leftists who post here, they think thats wonderful because they believe it best when the government controls speech... for the good of the people. No dissent is tolerated, they call it hate speech or they call it whatever they have to in order to ban it, for the peoples good. of course. Look at how leftists here hate Rush Limbaugh, myself, or anyone who speaks against or disagrees with their policies, with their ideology. Really focus on all the hate threads trashing right wingers personally... not their policies, them personally. There is no controlling socialism, primarily because it doesnt work for a variety of reasons and the socialists believe its only because they dont have quite enough power, quite enough control - and so they seek, they demand more. They riot, they threaten, they grow more totalitarian and more psychotic over time. Look at Hugo Chavez or Google Europe austerity for a glimpse of Canadas future. Canada is evolving, its not there yet but its on its way, as are we. Think - how can socialism possibly work? Government cant give everything away when government doesnt produce anything, and since things have to be produced how can government force people to work? And people dont tend to value what they havent worked for, and earned...

Thank you for a very well thought out reply. I agree with many of the points that you have made. The ability to have a conversation and/or listen to people with different points of views, does appear difficult for many. Many people even in real life, prefer to surround themselves with "yes" men, and can't relate to others who view life differently. I can't explain others hostility or hateful ways, especially online. Personally, I think of many on here as trying real hard to be "the cool kids". They think it's "cool" to trash people, especially online. Many of these "cool kids" would not dare say a lot of this crap to your face or anyone else's face, in real life. [;)] I left high school many years ago, and I have never been much of a follower. I rarely, and I do mean rarely agree with you, but as long as you are civil to me, I am able to be civil to you. I actually admire the way you can fight 80% of the board, and I think you enjoy it. It doesn't appear to get you down, and I like the fact that you don't need a bunch of "online" cronies to help or back you up. You can fight them all by yourself. lol I think many here seem to live to fight with you, and look for you and smile when you show up! I get to fight again today with Sanity!! yippie kay yay!!!! Things are not sliding down hill. they will rebound just like they always do. Pretty soon people will realize that this is a global market place and capitalism is the name of the game. Since the beginning of time people have cried out, "This time it is different!" Things may change but forward progress has really never been deterred. why is capitalism failing? It is working exactly as it should. Capitalists are crying foul that U.S. jobs are going overseas? They obviously don't understand how capitalism works. It is preordained that our economy must take a hit while those around us start to emerge.
