Perhaps it's more so the people or your ways of gaining exposure to them.
I'm sure you've already considered the route long and hard; I don't intend to reiterate basic workings of decision making,
but, it seems odd to walk away from a lifestyle due to the people rather than walk away from the people due to their Lifestyle.
Evaluate what it is you use to seek submission, remove specific emotional aspects, and link back untrustworthy actions to their most basic noticeable traits; using that as a further "filter" through your search. Basically, in shorter terms, suck it up and learn from your mistakes. I don't believe too many people as deeply involved as I (assume via what I've seen) you are can simply walk away without getting that grander satisfaction first.
People are just as dishonest, sneaky, and full of shit in the vanilla world too.
Only at least here We can hurt people and have fun.

If you want to submit to the fear of dishonesty: then submit.
If you want to Dominance; get out there and fucking take it.
