They're one of my favorite Irish traditional music groups and they come from Donegal where my people come from.
I know Mairead, Kieran Tourish and Dermot Byrne.
This is a beautiful song with Paul Brady sitting in.

Wow....her voice is awesome!  I love the music.....

I discovered Anuna when Riverdance came out......they do alot of the disappearing old Celtic stuff, in it's original language.

This one is cool...I can't even begin to try to sing along.....my mouth just doesn't go that way!

Just found this one...I believe they actually might call this style mouth music....I've seen it referred to as that in print someplace.  Damn, now I've got to find these cd's someplace and add them to my collection!  Thanks, popeye!

She has a good voice; just not one of my favorite Irish groups. I tend to lean towards the tenors from Ireland and Scotland when looking for music in that area.

If I had to really pick someone to call a favorite though it would be John McDermott...or if you want to go group wise, it would have to be Celtic Thunder. I have been following them since they debuted.

Greetings,

i really like Altan. i used to listen to their music many moons ago when exploring Celtic Reconstructionalism. Capercaillie, Clannad, and The Chieftains were other groups i enjoyed. And i'd be remiss if i didn't mention the Riverdance soundtrack. Starting ones day off with that always put me in excellent spirits!

Namaste,

~porcelaine

Porcelaine, oh yeah, I used to drive my neighbors crazy with that!

I need to find the Riverdance soundtrack...it's like totally impossible to locate.

And as far as another great female goes, I love Loreena McKennitt.  The very first time I heard anything by her, it was "All Souls Night", and her voice gave me chills.  I found one cd of her live in Paris and Toronto, I love it!  She is probably one of the very few....as in 3...that I'd pay $100 to see.

Oh S2S, speaking of Riverdance here's one by Zoe Conway who played in the show with them for a while! As a bit of a fiddler myself I can safely say that Zoe Conway is as close to being technically perfect as you can get and one of the best fiddlers in the world!
Fast forward it to 3:00.

And here's another that really shows her incredable technical ability!
