One percent of its population pays any taxes. It's a highly conservative Muslim country. They beg money from the IMF to continue (and no doubt handouts from the US as a pivotal partner in the war against terrorists, many of whom are holed up in Pakistan). "Pay up or we will come back and dance in your shop!" That is just funny. I think that it would work. I know that I would not fail to pay my taxes if the threat was waitresses coming to sing "Happy Birthday" at me.

LOL When I have a party show up to celebrate someone's birthday, they usually bring cake for us to slice. As we present it, everyone at the table sings... i do not. When the candles are blown out, my typical comment to the birthday boy/girl is... "My gift to you is not signing happy birthday to you which would make your ears bleed".

LOL The other half and I have an agreement that if we do a meal out on a birthday there will be no public singing. I can see where little kids might enjoy it, but for adults it seems like a form of public humiliation that I just do not understand.
