For any masochists out there, do you have a preference for stingy or thuddy? And if you do, why? I'm also curious as to how many don't need a warm-up.

Thanks for sharing. :)

For me, it's "all of the above".

Really it boils down to what mood I'm in. With a warm-up I can go for hours, whether it's thuddy or stingy (preferably switching between the two to prolong things).

Sometimes I just NEED the pain. I don't want warm-up. I want to scream, howl and beg and just get rid of this damn need which is knotted up inside me and driving me insane.

myotherself: Your response if very interesting to me because I don't have this "need" for it and I'm always curious about what it is that makes it a need for others. Do you know? Is there a way to articulate why you see this as a need? Your description makes it seem like that itch you can't scratch...you will go through anything just to have the relief of it. Is that in any way analogous?

yes, I think "itch that I can't scratch" is pretty close for me [:)]

Mostly the intense need arises from outside influences. When I'm massively stressed at work (which is most of the time) or with family issues, it feels like I'm standing in the middle of a tornado while all this crap is flying around me at high speed and there's not a damn thing I can do to control it. It makes me feel small, powerless and massively frustrated.

I guess it's the frustration that leads me to need the release through pain. Maybe it's just a primal way - the screaming and howling - to relieve this tension.

myotherself: Hmmm...interesting. It never ceases to amaze me that for all of our similarities as human beings, we have so many, many differences. (I know there are those who would phrase that the opposite way, but I've always seen humans as more alike than different.) I like the pain for the high I get. I enjoy when pain changes from pain to pleasure. Do you experience that? And being vocal is just all part of the fun for me. ;)

myotherself -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/17/2011 2:35:26 AM)

Pain can go one of three ways for me:

1. Just pain - keeps on hurting, until I can take no more.

2. Pain that turns into subspace - after a while I feel the impact but the pain just ceases to register and I float off into LALA land

3. Pain that turns into pleasure - the pain continues, but I absolutely crave it and don't want it to stop.

But with all three, I become massively turned on and am ready for wild sex during and after [:D]

Greetings,

i answered all of the above for one primary reason and that's the element of surprise. Not knowing is part of my enjoyment and it keeps me on my toes. There's also the benefit of calibration which forces me to adjust to the path he's selected for the days torment. Sometimes i struggle and one part (mind vs. body) is frantically trying to play catch up. And on other instances we're in sync and it's a wonderful ride. As for the warm-up, i'm hit or miss. It isn't a definite requirement, but depending on the apparatus used it does help. Plus, what's the goal? If it's merely some slap and tickle and he isn't going for a heavy hitting cathartic session then i don't want it. But if he wants me to shatter we're better off building instead.

Namaste,

not a masochist but I like thuddy with a warmup. Stingy just well.....fucking hurts!

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/17/2011 12:49:22 PM)

I prefer thuddy & no warm up. As His Evilness said, a warm up is just a waste of time. It's harder for me to take stingy, but I can. I like to take as much as I think that I can & then be encouraged to take more. I don't tend to safeword, it's only happened a few times. I find the whole pain thing to be interesting. One time the first stroke was so hard that I heard the WHACK but didn't feel anything for a few seconds & then PAIN!!! That was fascinating to me. I don't often go away, but I used to sometimes with HE. And when he would discover that, being the sadist that he is, he would force me to come back & make me focus on him until the endorphins slowed & then he would start in again, making sure that I was present & experiencing the pain.

I love pain. Not sure why. Don't care why.

soul2share -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/17/2011 6:51:02 PM)

I love the thud....I have a suede flogger that is the absolute best.  If that's used, a warm up really isn't necessary.  It can be made to sting if used by someone who knows how to use it properly.  The heavier the thud, the better, I can float off and just enjoy it.  It's not subspace, because I am aware of everything still going on, but I just don't give a damn about it!  I'm beginning to think subspace isn't ever going to happen, but if it does, it'll be because of the thud.

Wonder, you are so right..stingy hurts like a bitch, and regardless of where my mind is, one sting will undo everything.  You want to bring me back to the present, hit me with something that smarts.....works everytime.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/17/2011 7:39:24 PM)

I chose thuddy with no warm up, stingy with warm up. I don't need any warm up for thuddy at all, but if it's going to be a long session then I need some build up. The last time that DB and I played really hard (2+ hours), it was good that I had a lot of thud to offset the sting. When he pops out the single tail or qwert, he means business and me screaming about it, doesn't make it stop. Once I can push through the burn and sting of those things landing on my welted or broken skin, then I sail on endorphins, and become very quiet. If it's just for fun, then a warm up isn't necessary, and usually he picks thuddy.

MaxsBoy -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/17/2011 7:47:28 PM)

Stingy with warm-up, thuddy without.

joeleyre -> RE: Masochists, which do you prefer, stingy or thuddy? (4/19/2011 12:53:25 PM)

Not that it matters what i like more. What happens is what she wants to happen.
