You could have what is called a hydrostatic lock. If the water got into the air intake it might be in the cylinders and as you know water cannot be compressed. If that's the case you need to remove all the spark plugs and crank the engine until all the water has squirted out of the holes. However FIRST check the oil, if the level is high, which is likely, there is water in the crankcase. If so drain it. Save a couple bucks and figure out how to separate the oil and throw it back in without the water. If you can't get it separated just pickup a gallon of the cheapest oil you can find. If the engine won't crank with the spark plugs removed the starter is probably damaged. Unless it has sat for a long time the engine should not be locked up. If you can get wrench on the crank pulley bolt, try to turn it with the plugs out. If it will turn you need a starter. If it won't turn take off the belt(s) and try again, if the crank will then turn one of the driven components is likely locked up. Most likely the alternator but it could be anything. Water will not wreck the engine unless it sits there so long it rusts the parts, or if it gets pumped by the oilpump* into the bearings. If you got clean oil and no water in the cylinders you just run it, get it nice and warm (normal operating temperature) and the rest of the water will boil off. Water does not automatically kill an engine, what does is antifreeze, usually through a leaking head gasket. The ethylene glycol ruins the bearings, but there is no reason to think this happened here. I would really try to save any car these days, they want thousands for junk shitcans these days. I'm looking for a car right now and I just refuse to pay the prices. I have conceded that I am going to have to buy something broken down and fix it up. The days of getting a decent beater for $500 are over. And I agree that drowning her would give rise to too much suscpicion, strangling would be much better. * oilpump IS one word in my family :-) ETA : areallive..., I didn't see your post at first. Sounds like you know what you're doing. The only difference is that I wouldn't put the oil into the cylinders, the rest of the water will burn off in seconds once the thing starts. T^T
