I race harescrambles(this is like motorcross only in the woods, over the rocks and through the streams), ice race(think motorcross on a frozen lake with 800 spikes in your tires), run indoor and outdoor flat track and do occasinally ride actual motorcross.

I go to the gym four times a week and walk each day, and I've never felt any endorphins or rush of any kind.  I've got plenty of aches and pains, and there's no happy body chemicals rushing to my aid.  I don't get high on exercise, I get grumpy and bloody-minded.

During a session with my Dom, I fly. I hit subspace and the pain/pleasure exchange flips over and the world goes away.  Endorphin heaven!

So why can't those stupid endorphins hit me in the gym too?

I dont know becca! I will say that I quit smoking a little over a year ago and because your brain chemistry changes when you quit I started exercising HEAVILY to make my brain chemistry work well. I run 4 or 5 miles and walk for three. It usually takea about 20 minutes of cardo (not aerobic but cardio which is higher level exercise) for me to begin to feel it. What I notice is that my body will be sore at times when I go to the gym and once the endorphins kick in my muscles will stop hurting, I will start to feel this sense of accomplishment and well being as I am doing the exercise. When I first started running I would get sick to my stomach and feel like I was going to pass out, how long have you been working out?

To the person that posted that subspace is different, well yes it is and I believe I said so. There are other chemicals besides endorphins associated with it, but adrenaline is not necessary, whereas endorphins are. Also, I believe that runner highs are well documented, so subspace is not the only sort of high one can get with endorphins. If you have experienced both (which I have) then you know what I mean. I get bone chilling cold after I work out very hard, which is similar to what happens to a subs body when she starts to crash (it is also why they sell sweat jackets for exercise). I did not even realize why this was happening until a dom that I am interested in explained it to me because I was complaining of being cold aftger working out. He in the past  had a painslut sub that was literally addicted to endorphins.

Not necessary for what?  Subspace?

Depends on the person.

Yeah we talked some about that article in past threads, including:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_215615/mpage_2/key_subspace%2Carticle/tm.htm
Subspace can you control it

And this one:
http://www.collarchat.com/m_195635/mpage_1/key_subspace%252Carticle/tm.htm#195872
Subspace

And I hope Knight won't mind if I repost his words as I quite agree:
It is likely the most misleading article I have seen to date........ what makes it so dangers it appears to be rooted in some sort of scientific fact and tries to present itself as an authority on the subject. ... when no such facts exist and no authority medical or otherwises exists. The article that gives rise to the opinion that orgasm and subspace can't happen in unison has been posted in a thread here in "ask a submissive" - I think the thread started as "what is subspace".

I was wondering about it and is why I posted it without commentary

I wish there was more information about subspace, but alas there is a vast void. I will say I have never had an orgasm in subspace, but I have only been in it heavily on one occasion and could not orgasm when I was... I wonder if that part is true

Oh there's tons of information (have you actually checked out all those discussions?)

Unfortunately all of the information is based on personal experience and history- so there's no scientific or thorough study done on the subject through "objective" perspectives and rigorous practices.

But information there is aplenty.

Ah yes, that old 'endorphin rush' thing.....
When buffy wish to explain to non-Lifestylers about the 'subspace' and its effects upon the one entering that space, one has likened it to the 'wall' that serious 'joggers' have told buffy of. In truth buffy herself has not hit a such 'wall' when jogging (well not that particular wall.... although  there Was one time, that buffy turned to say something to someone jogging behind and Whack!!! hit quite another kind of wall there) ....
As to buffy's experience with subspace: one flies when she enter that subspace..... one rise and rise like on a mountain as the pain increase, and the darkness/brightness sparks grow, until suddenly there is a 'pause' and ........ she flies. Sometimes there is a type of 'low-grade humming' inside and at others there is only a great silence in a very calm sweet and safe place. Sometimes one has gone so deep that her breathing is altered, leaving Tthose around her to apparently be concerned. buffy aint concerned at those times, noppppppee, she is at peace.  Maybe not able to communicate that excepte through a slight squeeze of the hand but still ok.
It seems now, that one seek subspace a lot during bdsm play or if not that space, then one seek sexual release when being use in that way (well heck! its a lot healthier than some other ways)!
one has played with Some Dominants who did not wish her to go to subspace or to the place-of-sexual-release (sounds like something out of a Japanese how-to book, dont it). When this occurs, it is very frustrating to buffy, dammit.
As to other ways to get 'that subspace rush' .... one does not know anything which gives that same  rush which 'subspace' provides.... nor does she know any other way to get to 'subspace' save through the bdsm play.
respectfully,
buffy

Hello Mistresses, Masters, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have a couple of questions, but first a little background. I am a submissive and love bondage and serving but never thought I was a masochist, I was a coward about pain. I went to a BDSM party for the first time last Saturday and was facinated watching peolpe get tied up and whipped and spanked. I thought they were truly crazy. A mistress came up to and introduced herself and we had a great conversation, I was really attracted to her on all sorts of levels. She asked me if I would like to do a session with her. It was a real struggle for me because of my pain aversion but I said yes, and followed her up on the stage, (I do love public humiliation) she proceeded to undress me and tied me to an X-frame and I was thinking what did I get myself into. I didn't know her all that well but I had a feeling I could trust her. She proceeded to give me a session I will never forget. It was truly amazing, I didn't let out any moans or squeals because I was afraid she might stop. I didn't want her to ever stop. She took me to that other place (sub space?)that everyone is talking about in here. I never knew that pain and pleasure could be mixed to the point that you couldn't tell the difference and I didn't know about endorphins. It was a high that I had never experienced and it was a sexual experience without sex. I guess my questions are this; Can a person get hooked on pain? After just one experience? I am craving pain now, I can hardly wait to go back to that high I was feeling. I really feel I fit the description of pain slut that I read about here. I think I would do just about anything to get those feelings again.

Submissively Yours,
Nikki Ann

Can a person get hooked on chocolate after just one piece?

You had a great mind blowing experience- physically your body was rushed with all sorts of happy chemicals.  Of course you want to do that again.

I don't get the same rush from exercise, that i get from bdsm. For me,theres got to be more than just pushing the body, theres got to be a total mind trip,(atmosphere,a reason, someone eles and pain).

Another thing is i don't get the rushes while im sceneing.I can drift and feed during a scession, but the main rush usually comes twelve to twenty hours later. Two bites at the cheery,so to speek.

Gotta love the human body.
