TheHeretic -> He's A Little Bit Country (4/19/2011 6:47:41 PM)

Perhaps the second best line in recent memory that only a liberal Democrat could haved survived was Harry Reid's description of then candidate Obama as, "having no Negro dialect, unless he wanted one."

With that in mind, check out this video of an interview the President did with a Houston TV station. Their premise is that he was "testy." That's open to debate, but what caught my attention was his enunciation. At about the halfway point of the video, he pulls in a rehearsed partisan talking point, "'bout' Governor Perry taking money, and then blamin' Congress. And he had nuttin', he says, nuthin' to do with Houston not getting a Space Shuttle.

He's going to be tough to beat, unless he beats himself.

Sounded to me like the President was not annoyed beyond that caused by the continual interuptions. He clearly rushed through an answer the reporter was trying to interupt. That wasn't dialect by a long shot.

rulemylife -> RE: He's A Little Bit Country (4/20/2011 2:32:46 AM)

Richie, if you don't have the balls to say what's on your mind then don't dance around it and pretend it has something to do with Harry Reid.

Have you listened to Palin talk lately?  She constantly drops her g's.  A lot of people do that at times.  As far as nuttin', I heard nuthin'.

But yeah, you're right Richie, it must be that "Negro dialect".

Of course you didn't say that, Harry Reid did.  You are just making a completely unbiased, non-racial observation.

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: He's A Little Bit Country (4/20/2011 2:49:21 AM)

I didn't hear anything remarkable, after watching it twice. Naturally, it wasn't a friendly interview, and he'd look like an idiot, if he kept smiling through it, while disagreeing, or acknowledging, he was in unfriendly teritory. M

not up to your usual baiting standard Rich
poor show

Politico posted an unusually frank article on the topic

Nobody interrupts POTUS

The outburst heard 'round the world

When the even-keeled and cool President Obama gets prickly in public, it never goes unnoticed.

For Obama, who has carefully cultivated a reputation of easily managing confrontations with people who disagree with him, these moments are as rare as they are revealing of the person behind the presidency.

So it’s no surprise that Washington took notice when after a tense interview with a Texas TV reporter on Monday, Obama unclipped his microphone with no smile in sight, and tersely warned, “Let me finish my answers next time we do an interview, all right?”

The president of the United States was not happy. Obama had been corrected (he lost Texas by 12 points, not “a few,” in 2008), he was accused of punishing the state for political reasons (he denied that the White House had any part in the decision not to award a space shuttle to Houston), and he was challenged with the most basic of political questions: Why are you so unpopular in Texas?

And all that in a setting the White House anticipated would be largely free of tricky questions.

The conservative media type Matt Drudge broadcasted word of the interview on his website’s banner spot with the headline “First time: Reporter turns aggressive with Obama,” accompanied by the image of Obama, mid-reprimand.

The real crock is Perry and his teabagger cronies deriding the Federal Gov't on one hand and wanting it torched and then on the other expecting Uncle Sam to ride to the rescue cause they have a fire that is out of control. I say fuck that. Let Texas burn. Not a single Federal Dollar should be spent to help them out.....I mean we do need to draw the line on spending somewhere right and be fiscally responsible?

Good God!!! You ignore the content of what he said and focus on the way he said it? Sweet Jesus, it's no wonder all you guys get is fluff and empty images, that's all you want!

It's "good" to see that the quality of debate down here in the basement hasn't improved in my absence.

Sanity -> RE: He's A Little Bit Country (4/20/2011 6:33:19 AM)

You dont add to the quality any Arpig.

You used to, but not these days.

Maybe you've missed it, Arpig, but the content of what our President down here says is frequently fluff and empty retoric anyway. As his term wears on, we are seeing examples of that quite regularly. Guantanamo, use of force without Congressional authorization, raising the debt ceiling... What's wrong with taking a moment to look at the delivery style?

Ken, how do you figure he was "rushed" when he was pulling out the stock camaign answer, with a partisan shot? Do you have access to the raw video or something? The Shuttle is a hot issue, in the places where it matters to folks, he should have had a better answer ready. The Smithsonian already has one, there are three left to distribute. California built them, and was the landing location for a good stretch (I've seen them come in, from my back yard), Florida was where they launched and also landed, and Houston was Mission Control. Giving one to New York does seem best explained by politics.

Lucy, this isn't bait. It's a look at technique and style, and an honest appraisal that the man is a seriously good campaigner.

That's bullshit. He will win New York by 20+% against anyone the GOP trots out. If he was playing politics they would have gone to Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and Nevada.

Never better Bob, really. I have never been happier! I am really enjoying this phase of my life.

How have you been?

Not a bribe, Ken. A payoff.

I'm glad to hear that!! With me things have been going through a rough patch lately, but the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight.

Now enough of this pleasantry, people will begin to talk...back to the bickering!
