I'm not even trying that hard to get attention either... though after about a week have 20 something pages of messages in the inbox...

Agreed.  It's an important point, too.  I can only speak for Myself, but I find that there are very few times that somebody from the forums does send spam or some silly kind of thing.  On a rare occasion, when somebody is new, maybe.  Really rare.

If it makes you feel any better, your experience isn't unique for males.  No matter who you are, the avalanche of crap comes in during the first sixty days when you are 'fresh meat'.  After that, a lot of males have little else than cobwebs and spam in their mail.
