I like to eat.. I try my best to eat as well as I can.. low salt (which is not hard as you might think) I love to cook I find it creative outlet. I love to bake the exactness of it relaxes me...

B reakfast.. Cup of good Earl Grey.. weekdays.. maybe a toast crossiant ...weekends, perfectly poached eggs, toast and maybe slice of bacon...

Lunch, sandwhich in a wrap with good deitz and watson deli meat..lots of crunch veggies and good mustard and mayo.. some sort of fruit and a club soda with lemon

Dinner is flexible.. sometimes is a nite of picking through the fridge .. sometimes its like tonight.. salad with raspberry walnut dressing, grilled porkchops and homemade no dairy scalloped potatos..( made with believe or not low sodium chickenstock, garlic, mayo and a roue.. seriously rich and delicious) and probably a lemon drop martini..

Clean up .. is someone elses issue.. thank god..

I love making thing from scratch, and even canning :) I like control over my food and what I eat and less additives.
I dont have a current slave to clean up after my mess. I would cook more often if I did.

NuevaVida -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/25/2011 5:36:00 PM)

I love to cook. I particularly love to cook for people I love - not as a way of serving them, necessarily, but it's an expression of love for me to serve up a savory, delicious, healthy meal, and to watch them enjoy it.

My owner enjoys cooking, as well, and sometimes we'll weave around each other in the kitchen.  I do clean up, however, but I don't mind doing dishes, either.

Typical diet:

Breakfast - On week days it's a non fat yogurt & fruit, or oatmeal. On weekends it's one egg and a slice of whole wheat toast, or a veggie omelet.  When we splurge we have potatoes.

Lunch:  On weekdays it's a salad with grilled chicken, or some sort of wrap or sandwich. If I haven't planned well, I'll bring a SmartOne to work.  On weekends lunch is usually skipped but lots of fruit is snacked on.

Dinner:  On weekdays it's typically mixed stir fry veggies or some other vegetable concoction.  On weekends he puts something on the grill (steak, chicken, pork, fish) and we grill up veggies...or pasta or stir fry or a roast of some sort.  Weekend dinners usually include vino.  Vino is very important.  [;)]  When he has his daughter, who is vegan, I incorporate a vegan dish into dinner. So we might have a veggie stir fry or pasta, with a protein cooked on the side.

Snacks throughout the day:  Fruit, skim milk string cheese, a boiled egg, or a Quaker bar

Thanks Otter--great thread!

I learned to cook many moons ago from a butch dyke biker who told that I would never be able to romance a woman if I didn't learn to cook for her. (so true) She taught me how to make a vegetable pasta primavera (red sauce) that I still prepare to this day.  It got me laid more than once.

My (ex) Domme used to do a lot of the cooking-- I then took a lot of that over when she worked later than I did.  Plus, I cooked a lot healthier.
Now that I am cooking for one, I spend a lot more time in the kitchen preparing fresh, healthy meals.  I also prepare dishes once a month for ClubFEM parties, so I've been trying out a lot of recipes and so far, they've been a huge hit with the Dommes.

LadyConstanze -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 3:23:23 AM)

I love cooking and I love giving dinner parties or having friends round for lunch, being half Italian, I love Italian dishes but cooking is only really fun if there are several people there to eat it, for myself I don't bother much, on my own I'm happy with fruit and veg, eggs and cheese, occasionally fish or shellfish, I don't really digest meat well but will cook it for others, provided I know that the animals weren't raised in a meat factory but free range.

Typical day starts at 6 am, quick cup of coffee and a banana, feeding the cats and dogs and taking the dogs for an hour walk, then an espresso, boiled egg and toast, checking email, getting organized for the day, then another walk with the beasts and 30 minutes training session for Alfie, the new Dobie, then some light snacks while I work, apple, maybe a banana. Lunch is usually something light in the summer, pasta salad with lots of veg and leaf salads in a light vinaigrette or a roasted butternut squash, aubergine, avocado, etc. then another walk with the dogs. Then more work, I usually nibble on nuts, sunflower seeds, fruit, avocado slices, etc. throughout the afternoon to avoid my blood sugar from dropping. Then an evening walk and preparing dinner, depending what I got at home but often something with brown rice or couscous, smoked tofu, mackerel or other oily fish (preferably smoked), a plate of different cheeses and fresh bread and a glass of wine, then a bit more work, another walk and usually a late nite snack.

On weekends breakfast is pretty much the same, if there is a dinner party the lunch is lighter because there will be several courses later, plus on weekends I'm out and about a lot, so I tend to eat more.

I tend to make a lot of Italian salads (most savory food that can be eaten cold is a salad in Italy) and keep them in the fridge for lunch or snacks. Sometimes I tend to get a takeaway, but I honestly prefer my home made curries (I'm a really fussy eater, though if I like something I tend to scoff quite a bit) or like yesterday I was a complete and utter piglet and stopped on the way home at my fave Chinese restaurant and got 2 main meals and 2 portions of mushroom fried rice, which I demolished, I had skipped lunch and was ravenous.

As for calorie intake, around 3000 to 4000, not counting the occasional ice cream or tiramisu (my big weakness and next to coffee my addiction along with cheesecake), recently got doctor's orders to write down how much I eat and exercise, because my yearly MOT showed a drastic weight loss without dieting and she was concerned something might be wrong, turned out the reason for it was the new addition to the family, an adorable 2 year old male Doberman who's super active and tends to demand lots of exercise (while my old Dobie girl decides to sit down and watch us running around like a pair of loons after a while). Fairly easily resolved, just added more nuts and oily fish to my diet.

I love healthy food that's good for my body (you don't fill crap into an engine and expect it to perform well) but I'm also really into nicely prepared and tasty food, preferably in vast quantities....

Cornflakes.

Cornflakes.

They taste a bit rotten without milk, if I have them with milk I will be blocking the bathroom for a long long time, and soy milk just tastes awful... Rather stick with banana and boiled eggs and toast for breakfast!

PeonForHer -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 5:14:58 AM)

I don't eat cornflakes, myself. I just wrote 'cornflakes' before because the word popped into my head while I was reading this thread. I'm trying to inject spontaneity and impulsiveness into my life.

LaTigresse -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 7:20:39 AM)

That reminds me.......

I was at a family gathering this last weekend. One of the dishes was some sort of baked cheesy potato thing with some sort of corn flake, cold cereal shit, sprinkled on top. The whole thing was one big, processed/convenience food, all piled together into one big baked mess.

More and more I see this. People buying frozen, processed, boxed mixes, crap.......pile it together into some sort of new processed food hell, and calling it 'home made'. There are even entire cookbooks dedicated to this type of horrid cooking. Is this a US trend, an Iowa trend, or just the lame cooks in my general vicinity?

LadyConstanze -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 7:52:22 AM)

I think it's a worldwide trend, sadly enough. When you stand at the checkout of the supermarkets, you see tons of overly processed rubbish in the baskets and trolleys, and oddly enough the people and their kids mostly tend to look unhealthy and on the verge of obese. I really don't get it, you can get potatoes for mashed potatoes much cheaper than the precooked mash and it's not that much work. Nothing wrong with the occasional comfort food or microwave dish, but if somebody doesn't have a single piece of fruit or veg in their basket but just ready made meals, crisps and sweets, you gotta wonder how healthy the kids are growing up and what that salt and sugar laden overly processed rubbish does to them.

Sylverdawn -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 10:04:01 AM)

its called confetti potatoes or some such..its made with cubed potatoes, american cheese, green onions, condensed soup and mixed into a pain covered with crushed cornflakes... dont ask me how I know this..lol

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 10:27:47 AM)

I so totally agree about poor eating habits. It really bugs me when I see 3-4 super obese kids trailing their mom who's pushing a cart filled with fake, calorie rich food. Not only is that crap far more expensive, it's not necessarily that much quicker.

You are allowed to use your microwave to make REAL food, too.

Innit. A lot of stuff comes out better in the microwave. Spring greens, peas, salmon steaks, cashew nuts...

And treacle sponge pudding when I'm being a bad person. Chocolate treacle sponge pudding if I'm being a bad person squared! [8D][8D]

LadyConstanze -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 10:51:02 AM)

I'm always surprised how few people actually know how to cook, I'm not talking about gourmet meals but just rather simple and healthy dishes, for most cooking is opening a tin can or putting some ready made meal into a microwave. With a few friends we have some sort of "cooking club", it simply evolved this way, each Sunday we alternate cooking and now countless people are angling for invitations. Once I start cooking I tend to make far too much anyway, so pretty often when there was a duck or a turkey on the Sunday meal, I make soup from the rest of it and share it with others, we were talking the other day in the pub because apparently the duck butternut squash soup was lovely, a woman overheard us and asked if you can actually make soup from duck and where did I buy the cubes from. I was a bit flattened by the question. Soups are just so easy to make and so much healthier than the instant stuff that's just full of salts, plus one of the cheapest ways to deal with left overs.

I hope you were able to retain enough of your usual manners, La T, to be able to say,
"Thank you for this cheesy potato thing with some sort of corn flake, cold cereal shit on it. It's a most delicious big baked mess, darling." I do think decorum is important on such occasions.

Me, I've got the cooking ability of a gnat. I can do good stews, with my own patented gravy-stock recipe which everyone loves. I have a vague idea of balance of nutrients, and that's about it. On the plus side, I'll eat almost anything, and enjoy it. People tell me I'm great to cook for. I enjoy most things, though I have to admit that cauliflower and beetroot come straight back up again. That's not a problem though: I've no intention of becoming gay, so I see no reason to eat vegetables more than twice a year.

Exactly!

I understand being poor and I understand being crunched for time. Hey, I've been the working mother with a tight food budget. But neither shortage of time or small food budget has to mean shit food. I love to cook and do a lot of it......still, being a lousy cook still does not have to mean shitty food.

And Peon......of course not.........I asked "What is this godforsaken shit you expect us to eat?!?!?"

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 10:57:01 AM)

I know, it amazes me. I recently gave a friend my gumbo recipe, we were talking about good places to find seafood here in the middle of the Midwest. My recipe had directions for making home made chicken stock. He was incredulous, he buys his in a box. Now see, I don't get that, you have to cook the chicken anyway, why on earth wouldn't you use the bones to make stock?

With my food processor I can get a stock started in about 3 minutes, so I guess I don't see the time savings. Plus the Tril cat loves a good stock, guess who gets the scraps?

LadyConstanze -> RE: The Eating Habits of Dominant Females (4/26/2011 11:13:06 AM)

If you would share the gumbo recipe... I'm quite interested as I just LOOOOOOVE seafood.

As for food processor and starting stock in 3 minutes, I'm a bit clueless here, how does that work? I just tend to cut the stuff I want to make soup from and then put it into a saucepan and boil it... I bought a lot of ice cube forms, they're just ideal for freezing in stock you later can use for sauces, one of the drawbacks is that other half didn't much look at the label and ended up with various stock in cube form in his drink, we agreed that the red ice cube containers are strictly reserved for plain water ;-)
