I love cooking and I love giving dinner parties or having friends round for lunch, being half Italian, I love Italian dishes but cooking is only really fun if there are several people there to eat it, for myself I don't bother much, on my own I'm happy with fruit and veg, eggs and cheese, occasionally fish or shellfish, I don't really digest meat well but will cook it for others, provided I know that the animals weren't raised in a meat factory but free range. Typical day starts at 6 am, quick cup of coffee and a banana, feeding the cats and dogs and taking the dogs for an hour walk, then an espresso, boiled egg and toast, checking email, getting organized for the day, then another walk with the beasts and 30 minutes training session for Alfie, the new Dobie, then some light snacks while I work, apple, maybe a banana. Lunch is usually something light in the summer, pasta salad with lots of veg and leaf salads in a light vinaigrette or a roasted butternut squash, aubergine, avocado, etc. then another walk with the dogs. Then more work, I usually nibble on nuts, sunflower seeds, fruit, avocado slices, etc. throughout the afternoon to avoid my blood sugar from dropping. Then an evening walk and preparing dinner, depending what I got at home but often something with brown rice or couscous, smoked tofu, mackerel or other oily fish (preferably smoked), a plate of different cheeses and fresh bread and a glass of wine, then a bit more work, another walk and usually a late nite snack. On weekends breakfast is pretty much the same, if there is a dinner party the lunch is lighter because there will be several courses later, plus on weekends I'm out and about a lot, so I tend to eat more. I tend to make a lot of Italian salads (most savory food that can be eaten cold is a salad in Italy) and keep them in the fridge for lunch or snacks. Sometimes I tend to get a takeaway, but I honestly prefer my home made curries (I'm a really fussy eater, though if I like something I tend to scoff quite a bit) or like yesterday I was a complete and utter piglet and stopped on the way home at my fave Chinese restaurant and got 2 main meals and 2 portions of mushroom fried rice, which I demolished, I had skipped lunch and was ravenous. As for calorie intake, around 3000 to 4000, not counting the occasional ice cream or tiramisu (my big weakness and next to coffee my addiction along with cheesecake), recently got doctor's orders to write down how much I eat and exercise, because my yearly MOT showed a drastic weight loss without dieting and she was concerned something might be wrong, turned out the reason for it was the new addition to the family, an adorable 2 year old male Doberman who's super active and tends to demand lots of exercise (while my old Dobie girl decides to sit down and watch us running around like a pair of loons after a while). Fairly easily resolved, just added more nuts and oily fish to my diet. I love healthy food that's good for my body (you don't fill crap into an engine and expect it to perform well) but I'm also really into nicely prepared and tasty food, preferably in vast quantities....
