I was going to do 10, but that's like, a lot, so..

1.) In the coming campaign, which talking point should Conservatives focus on the most?

2.) Bachmann or Palin? and why?

3.) Of all the GOP candidates, who's going to get the nomination?

4.) Who on the conservative side would you have riding the bench?

5.) Who's your favorite Conservative? Why that person?

Spending cuts - but they have to actually mean it.

2.) Bachmann or Palin? and why?

Well, between those two, Bachmann. At least she's not a quitter.

Mitt Romney? Really hard to say as we haven't had a whole lot of transparency in that regard as of yet. Has any conservative actually declared?

quote:

4.) Who on the conservative side would you have riding the bench?
Donald Trump as I would really like to see what an honest to god business man can bring to the Oval office - I would worry, though, that he's just showboating so he can garner ratings for his tv show... again ... and take time away from serious candidates to the office.

quote:

5.) Who's your favorite Conservative? Why that person?

Laura Bush - she has a class and grace all her own.

I usually stay away from things like this, but since it's you......

1. Real job creation. Bringing at least some of the industry back. It worked for a long time until they fixed it. I don't mean pork barrel projects, I mean real production, either something we can sell or something we can stop buying from others.

2. Neither, they are both complete ninies and I wouldn't let them fry me a burger.

3. Whoever is the favorite child of the people with REAL money. The ones who could buy and sell Bill Gates with pocket change.

4. Ron Paul. As much as I oppose him on the abortion issue and possibly a few more, at least he has a working brain and I suspect he is untouchable. Otherwise he would've been gone long ago. See when they find a good Man in politics they simply trap him and if he doesn't cooperate then they "catch" him. That's how it works. I am not saying Ron Paul is a brainiac or anything, but the way he is they are not likely to trap him. Unless you consider his recent appointment in the congress. I am not sure what is going on there at the moment.

5. Been answered in #4. You have to realize that he is allowed an opinion as well as anyone, and that he is not running for God. Even if he wants to make metal coat hangers illegal because they COULD be used for abortion, that is not going to come to pass.

Sorry if this is not quite the response you wanted, but I am very partisan. I don't mean dem or rep partisan, I mean partisan in the class war. What most of the politicians think of today it how to take as much as they can take from us, and that is both sides. People who think electing the "right" President will fix things are sadly mistaken. I am on the side of the commoner, the low and middle class, the proletarians, the great unwashed (so to speak).

They don't fool me anymore. They are all the same and when election time comes, the results are as important as the super bowl. It really is just about the same, dems and reps, it's like the AFC and NFC in football. The only people who it matters to are those with stakes in the game, which horsey is their money on ?

All the world's a stage, and they are merely players. The directors and writers do not show themselves.

1. The economy.  Jobs will be huge and I can't believe the GOP hasn't seized on it.  Maybe they're afraid of having the Bush economy dredged up to attack them with.

2 Neither.  That was easy.

3. Way too early to say.  They're still posturing and nobody's really started fundraising in earnest.

4. I could see Huntsman, Romney, or maybe Pawlenty being a sane candidate.  The rest make me nauseous.

5. None of the above.  Since I don;t vote in the GOP primary, I'm going to be lazy and wait for a nominee, who I'll investigate.  But I doubt they could field anyone I'd prefer over Obama.

Quick answers, because I need to be getting for work;

1) Executive competence

2) As a fuck, probably Palin. I wouldn't vote for either of them, based on what I know at this point.

3) Way to early to make that call

4) Riding the bench implies they may come into the game later. Christie and Rubio. Trump and Gingrich can hit the showers and go home.

5) Thomas Jefferson.

1.  a new monetary system

2. get rid of corporate personhood

3.  get out of global treaties- many - like GATT, CAFTA, NAFTA, and so on

4.  reform the medical so the profit motive is on CURE rather then  stringing people along

5.  exercise actual transparency which will mean the law applies equally to all.... not a 2 tiers rule system...with Jail for those who caused the financial collapse.

1. Real job creation. For that, you are going to need a fair tax structure and you are going to have to stop penalizing those individuals who create those jobs. Despite the progressives' whining about how "little" the rich pay in taxes, their taxes still manage to fill the tax coffers up to the 70-90% level. Expecting them to "share" MORE of the burden (how much more? 90% 95% 100%)....as our 'leader" suggests...is a balm to his base but unrealistic, counter-productive, unfair.

2. Neither. Though there are areas, especially fiscal conservatism, on which I find common ground with these ladies...there are way too many areas in the social arena in which I do not agree with them at any level even approaching 50% aqreement.

3. It is too early to say yet. I think Trump is grandstanding and Romney and Huckabee just started exploration of the idea. Newt could end up doing damage to the party through his hypocrisy. And so it goes....

4. I would bench Trump, for reason noted although, as someone else noted, I would keep him around for his business acumen. I would try to retire, not bench, potential candidates such as Newt.

5. The writers of the Federalist articles....Hamilton, Madison and Jay. Their distinctive vision of the new government and the "code" it should adhere to was, and remains, brilliant.

1) I'd expect them to concentrate on the budget and tax cuts.....they have boxed themselves into a corner on the wars which they really can't complain about cause they are for them....Hope the birther thing sticks......Health care....

2) Palin....All that leather she wears....just something you feel. :)

3) If they are smart Jeb Bush. Gov. of Florida.....Hispanic wife. Speaks Spanish.....Would threaten coastal Democratic strongholds. If not, no one will have the nomination sewn up before they get to the convention.

4) Huckabee, can't win a national election but can fuck things up for everyone cause he can win early southern states including florida.

5) Huntsman Junior. Willing to talk rather than sound bite

These are very difficult because finding any conservatives in Washington and increasingly elsewhere, is like looking for a the smallest partical of mass. We just can't see one...anywhere.

1) Ronald Reagan killed the notion that 'conservatives...pay as you go.' So the big issues they will ignore, war, war profit, defense budget and the increasing reach of big brother.

2) ...for a possible threesome ? Yes, if they asked very nicely.

3) Mitt Romney...the most 'free speech [sic] in the bank.

4) All of 'em, and that's tough when there are none.

5) James Buckley, (C) former senator from NY and current federal judge...the last conservative and the only conservative party member to be elected to national office. Because he is about the only real conservative left. Served one term because in congress he found nothing but petty little power barons concerned only with their own narrow short term self-interest...not the country.

That's interesting Heretic, I've heard a couple conservatives kinda don't like Newt Gingrich.  Why is that?

And just to clarify guys, when I said Bachmann or Palin, I just mean overall, not necessarily in an election context.

Well that's good because when DYB talks about Sarah, I am pretty sure it's not in an election context. Unless of course he's hittin' that at the polling center.

Economy and jobs. Infrastructure rebuilding and repair would be nice.

2.) Bachmann or Palin? and why?

For what? I do not see either of them running for POTUS. With the misogyny that goes on towards female candidates, I just do not see them as viable.

Way too early to tell.

4.) Who on the conservative side would you have riding the bench?

Do you mean a judicial nomine? Samuel Alito tops the list. However if this is some kind of sports metaphor (and after reading several other answers, I think it is) I have no idea what it means. I do not do sports metaphors.

5.) Who's your favorite Conservative?

Theodore Roosevelt.

Why that person?

I consider him a renaissance man. Probably one of the most accomplished presidents EVER. He actually made a third party a viable option. No, he did not win, but he came in second. Prolific writer, overcame childhood illnesses (asthma most notably), warrior, statesman (Noble Peace Prize), devoted husband and father. The man was simply amazing.

I was looking for something more specific. With Trump its more obvious, as he wants to turn important political discourse into a reality show, but as far as I can tell New Gingrich has been a pretty loyal conservative, so I was just wondering what some people's beef with him is.

Greetings

I am not conservative I am liberal, and I am not even American so this will be an outsider's point of view.

1.) In the coming campaign, which talking point should Conservatives focus on the most?

The economy, both conservatives and liberals agree that USA is in deep waters economically, and it really should be an important topic for both sides.

2.) Bachmann or Palin? and why?

Oh dear, I do not mean any disrespect but that is like asking pest or cholera as they are both idiots. However please go with Palin, Backmann can handle herself in a debate and might actually win, from a liberal point of view if the conservatives back Palin then the victory is as good as guaranteed. Everywhere Palin's approval rating is dropping like a stone and she can never answer a difficult question when asked, she would be the worst possible choice for the conservatives to back as she is a clown, which make her the preferred candidate of our side.

3.) Of all the GOP candidates, who's going to get the nomination?

I honestly do not know, it is to much back and forth so it is hard to say.

4.) Who on the conservative side would you have riding the bench?

That depends, again for me the choice is, do I want someone who will do the most damage to the conservatives, then Donald Trump, I mean the man is an even bigger clown than Palin is and he is doing this for publicity. However if we are going by which one I think is the best conservative candidate which would do the most good for USA then Ron Paul.

5.) Who's your favorite Conservative? Why that person?

Laura Bush, I do not agree with her, however she is a lady. For to many conservatives lately have been clowns, they have put on ridiculous clown acts to attract the far right. Laura Bush is an old fashioned lady with old fashioned values and I can respect that.

I wish you well.
