KayxSlut -> All types of bdsm? (4/25/2011 10:28:26 PM)

I was curious as to all the different types of bdsm there are. My fiance and I are starting to get into bdsm and s&m and i am curious as to what there is available out there. First and foremost, whats a PIG? Currently I'm a "submissive" partner and I'm training to be a slave. How did everyone else do it and how much do they like it?

HannahLynHeather -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/25/2011 10:32:17 PM)

there are 6,000,000,000 people in the world. the stat i read was that 10% are into bdsm. that makes 600,000,000 kinksters. and that's how many types of bdsm there are.

BDSM is one of those huge intergalactic words nowadays ranging from hardcore hair-pulling bitch-slapping sex to a man in diapers who likes to have tomatoes thrown at him by a 6'4" blonde in stiletto heels chewing bubble gum. Needless to say there are a LOT of fetishes and personal tastes out there.

a "pig" in my world is reserved for lowly men who are too sex-driven for their own good, and will do the most bizarre and disgusting things for just a heel. But thats my take on it at least.

"Currently I'm a "submissive" partner and I'm training to be a slave."

Hrm. I hope you know what you're getting into. I mean, SLAVE usually means something a little more hardcore, but a lot of times it might as well mean Barney the purple dinosaur... so I'm not able to tell you what level of intellectual and or lifestyle challenges youre in for. I think for someone asking such basic questions, though, you might want to to ixnay the slave thing until your up to speed.

For every person on this forum there's a different reason/way they did it.

I'm not submissive,'though I chose to be owned and have lived this way for years. I clearly like it very much or I'd have trundled off.  I also wouldn't say that I like it ALL of the time but I'm talking about the overall situation, not individual instances.

I wouldn't say that our life is that wrapped up in bdsm although it's semi-present a goodly amount of time. It's threaded throughout, not just in sporadic pockets of time.

We are an M/s couple; the bdsm is just *things that we do*. We'd be an M/s couple even if there was no bdsm at all.

Not all of us do humiliation like considering our partners less than human, which is what happens when someone identifies as a pig. I'm not sure how you can train to be a slave, it's an orientation not a skill level. You master crawling across the floor with heels on and you graduate from sub to slave? Weird.

I also don't know what you're asking by kinds of bdsm. What activities people do? How they relate to one another? Who makes what decisions?

coookie -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/26/2011 10:26:17 AM)

If you are referring to pig play you could try researching pets or role play. There are many ways to engage in bdsm and you should do the things that feel right for you as a couple.

Des, not quite the case.

I'm clearly not even submissive but I have been *taught* how to live as a *slave*......... I just needed the info, not some *calling* and indeed it did mean *mastering* a few things that were individual to us. It's NOT an orientation, necessarily.

Do you mean types of BDSM like "edge play" or types of BDSM relationships like TPE or D/s.

mnottertail -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/26/2011 1:46:50 PM)

Or do you mean 'Blinded by the Light' sung by Manfred Mann?

perfect.

edited to add:
In an attempt to clarify to the OP why this isn't an empty answer, consider the following. Carol and I are into TPE. So are a fair number of other posters on this site as well as people we've met in real life. I don't think I've met a single person online or in real life who shares my definition of the words total, power, or exchange much less the entire TPE acronym. I have yet to meet a couple who's TPE dynamic resembles ours beyond very broad brush strokes. So if we told you that "TPE" was a type of BDSM what would you have learned?

Aileen1968 -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/26/2011 2:16:37 PM)

We do the sarcastic, bust each others balls, try to beat each other in poker and trivia games, sleep wrapped around each other type of bdsm.
We are sick fuckos.

I have a type: be nice and give me what I want and we'll get along like a house on fire.

Not sure what you'd call that - enlightened self-interest?

I could be taught how to change the oil in the car. I still wouldn't identify as an automotive mechanic. Learning skills won't make me into a slave, just a sub with some more skills than I now possess.

I think you are looking at actions, things you can do. But I don't know for sure. I'm shooting in the dark here. But sometimes when we start something new, we don't even know what questions to ask. So, I'm giving you a link about activities. Have fun and be safe!

I'm owned rather fully...........that makes me owned. I didn't need to be a sub, slave or motor mechanic to do it......I just am. Not really sure what credentials you need to be owned other than....being owned.

Madame4a -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/26/2011 4:28:17 PM)

Its a really big world.. really really big... you might want to join a local group, check out their class or discussion offerings.. its a great place/way to start out and find out what appeals to you..

a pig in my world is no where near as negative as it seems to be to others.. .the word "pig" is often coupled with the word "pain" .. pain pig = a heavy masochist, although that can also mean a heavy masochist whose only interest is in play and getting off -- sometimes, or maybe even often, without a submissive bone or act to their name...

enjoy.. good luck

eta - you have access within an hour or two to a ton of groups -- NY, NJ, MD, and PA.. not to mention your home state.. do a little googling and you'll likely find something...

ThundersCry -> RE: All types of bdsm? (4/26/2011 7:02:31 PM)

Gee...my first thought was...pain pig...go figure -L-

Good to see you Madame...wait, your above me <g>

The one great thing about BDSM is the massive variety of things it involves - hence the slightly clumsy acronym. The categories on the CM profiles are a useful guide for basics although even they aren't comprehensive! Broadly speaking some have a preference for the BD side of things which relates more or less as control, while the SM side of things relates to sadism and pain. They often go hand in hand though. I think if you are new to this stuff then preparing to become a slave might be a little premature even if you feel that is where it is at for you. Perhaps you should try the different varieties of BDSM first to see where this interesting journey takes you. It is almost guaranteed to surprise - you might even find you are a switch or a domme! [;)] You and your partner might also find you prefer different things so some compromise might need to be considered. The two types of pigs I know about are pain pigs and pay pigs (AKA cash cows). Pay piggies probably wouldn't relate to your situation. It would be interesting to know if there are other piggy types?
