Half the battle here is having met in person which you already have; if you find him attractive, why not? If the thought of being seen with him at events makes you uncomfortable, see him privately if that works better for you. You are in a great, unique position...take FULL advantage of it!

I know, that I had wished for a friend like that in the very beginning :)

Thanks for all the replies, I think it just surprised me, it's someone who was a friend of a friend, I guess I considered them a little wussy at the time (10 years ago) so it's weird seeing them as 'Dom'

I had a friend who for years told me he was a Dom and I didn't believe it. After I moved out from my ex Dom, the friend showed me just how Dom he was!!! [8D]

chances are if you are in the local community you are gonna run into someone you know eventually and as long as you don't make it awkward it wont be.  There is a silent code of respect in the d/s community (at least I have found) that it is a private and d/s only topic to see people you know.  Kinda what happens in vegas stays in vegas what happens at munches and such stays at them.

As for knowing the messenger, that is a tuff one. but like another post said if you think there is an attraction level why not pursue it and she where it goes.

This happened to me as well.
A guy I knew messaged me and I kind of thought he was cute before. We went on a few dates and made out a bit, but there were no "sparks", so now we are still friends.
He never told anyone about my interests and I never told anyone about his.
This incident didn't hurt and didn't actually improve anything at all.
However, I am glad that I "went with it", in the end. I don't regret it at all.
