Hello there, pretty one!

The whole forum, with the exception of a few like ashjor, is pretty much located in the US.  Your post got us asleep, so we didn't respond.  Yet.

Welcome!

Originally I am from Rotterdam, but I live in Dordrecht nowadays..... And in Maastricht lives my twinsister :) so I spend a lot of time there to... Anyway, tnx for the welcome [:D]

GreedyTop -> RE: Hi from Holland (5/2/2011 1:07:13 PM)

I have tried to learn to speak Dutch..

I have failed miserably.. about all I have managed to learn well is "Ik ben Americansa" (and I probably have spelled that wrong).  LOL

Charnegui -> RE: Hi from Holland (5/2/2011 1:28:46 PM)

Well if you pronounce it quickly enough it looks like it.... Not to bad girl *thumbs up*

"they say that dutch is one of the most difficult languages to learn to speak"
I personally think Chinese or Japanese is more difficult.

But come again and I'll teach you...... grinzz

GreedyTop -> RE: Hi from Holland (5/2/2011 1:33:10 PM)

LOL I had a German friend tell me that Dutch is hard to learn.. *grin*

I have books, and somewhere, a disc, to learn it.

it's hard without having someone close to correct or practice with...

I'll be there again, someday!!

story of my life,
I got to CM just to practice English & Deutsch, when you dont have some one to practice with, its beyond than hard,
also i have known that Dutch is similar to Deutsch (German), let me give you an example how hard its,

in English there is ( he, she it) , (it) can be used if you are talking about an animal, tree or car or even the road.
in german, the road can be feminie in singular (die strasse) or car can be neutrum (das auto) singular,
& its freaking mess in the plural,
another thing that i have learned the hard way,
there is 2 differant kinds when you talk to some one formel & the informel,
formel when you talk to your boss or some one you dont know you use the (Sie), the opposite use (du),
if you by mistake use du insted of Sie the other person..... lets say he will not be pleased.

its like a mouten moven from my chest

Charnegui -> RE: Hi from Holland (5/2/2011 2:54:58 PM)

Okay then
In grammatical ways German is more difficult than Dutch, but Dutch is harder because of those many verbs wich are meaning the same en do not :) I know it's not easy to follow, luckely for the both of you I speak Dutch, English and German fluently.

My only flaw in this is my writing... in English rusty, but the more I use it, the better, in German.... pffff I won't even give it a try to write it perfect.... but be assured, most Germans can't write their own language either.

In a way Dutch is similar to English, because they also have the words with more than one meaning or use. And one of our Provences (Friesland) has it's own language (not dialect) that is almost similar to English.

Does anyone need a teacher? [:D]
