ORIGINAL: slaveluci Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, of course, and you know I usually agree with you 150%, NuevaVida. On this subject, though, I too feel disturbed but it's by everyone's celebration of his death. It's nothing political at all. It's just that I don't see it as cause for rejoicing. If I'm a "moron," then so is Dr. Martin Luther King who said: "I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." I agree with him totally and am saddened that no one else here seems to. That, sadly, is what seems like human nature to me.......luci Hey there luci, I tend to think this nation was hid fucking HARD by what happened on 9/11 and yesterday's event was tremendous. Such events are going to affect people differently, and probably fairly intensely. So the celebrations, the shaking of fists, the joy, the hatred - to me, it's all just the various ways people grieve. By tremendous and phenomenal, by the way, I mean huge. People can view it as fantastically good or horribly bad. But it was huge, either way. I don't think anyone on this planet is prepared to process such intense emotions or knows of the "right way" to do so. So I take it all in stride. Perhaps, then, I should read my own words and try to understand that turning this into a political fiasco is also part of that process, but I struggle with that.
