Wouldnt someone try to recover the body?

I mean- like they would have to guard the dump site until the sharks ate the body.

I wonder how quickly a body is eaten up by fish.

First, they would have to have a clue where it is. The average depth of the ocean is 2 MILES and it covers 2/3 of the earth's surface. Who has the resources to find a body (presumably weighted) in that? Btw, it prob won't be sharks that eat it. There are some really nasty and hungry things in the deep abyss. Look up "giant isopods" and "hagfish" for 2 of the more common scavengers down there.

thanks

After U.S. forces killed Osama bin Laden during a raid, the body was treated in "accordance with Islamic practice," U.S. officials told the media early this morning.

That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours and forbids cremation, the official said. When it became clear that it would be difficult to get any country to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist, the U.S. decided to bury bin Laden at sea, the official said. The location where that occurred was not immediately released.

Another reason, which U.S. security officials confirmed with the media later on Monday, is that the U.S. didn't want to risk bin Laden's burial place becoming a shrine that could inspire other terrorists.

There would have been no place on dry land where the grave wouldn`t have been molested or fucked with, other than maybe Fort Knox.

Burial at sea was a good idea.

I wonder who came up with it?

This is ONLY an educated guess. In the Old testament, it says things to the effect that "if your hand offends God, cut it off, if your eye offends Him, poke it out, etc because it is better to go to heaven missing parts than it is to go to hell whole"

I have a feeling that this is where sharia law says to cut off the hand of a thief and so forth.

The implication that you can get to heaven missing parts is why Muslims (and others) want the body buried whole.

If one were to be cremated, it would be tough to enjoy your 72 virgins if you are a puff of smoke.

The previous, of course, begs the question of what happens to homocide bombers who are vaporized.

Anyone else have more learned analysis?

I think it will add credence to the conspiracy nuts that will insist that Osama died years ago, or he isn't dead at all....unfortunately. I think it would have been wiser to return his body to his family.

PINCHY PINCH twist PINCH twist
should never say that in a room of sadists
My hubby reckons they have him wired up to various truth telling drugs and torture machines
getting every ounce off material out of him they can
Then they should see him off ala Hannibal lecter style, feeding him to ravenous boars.
And people think Im strange

Hah I just got this on facebook from a friend of mine(who is a brit)
Even though we both speak the same language, it's amazing how there are some subtle differences between American-English and proper English:They say "sidewalk" we say "pavement"They say "pants" we say "trousers"They say "buried at sea" we say "naked and chained to a metal bed frame with a car battery connected to his bollocks whilst being beaten for answers"

According to David Letterman, there was a paperwork screwup and he ended up with 72 vegans.

Someone mentioned color back. I have used it and it is not effective- all it does is stink up pillow cases.

If this was a murder they would need to weapon and the body.  The burial seems too fast to me.

If I recall correctly, burial rites must be done within 24 hours. They did a burial at sea because there were no countries that wanted to deal with his body.

There are scavenger fish at the bottom of the ocean that eat everything down there and those fish will eat him until nothing is left but bones.
