I am curious about other states and what sort of playspaces they have.  I have seen pictures of Chicago's Domain Galloria for years, but am curious about others, especially ones that strive for some sort of theme.

Thanks in advance!

Our favorite play space is our home dungeon!  But there are a few clubs here.  They tend to come and go.  Purgatory (you can find their website by doing a search on the web on Purgatory Australia) is quite good with some rooms with themes.  The club space is shared with a swingers club on different nights  Abode has an upstairs play area for members only and a downstairs more general alternative club section.  Once a month they run Confessional, which is a lock in play party for serious enthusiasts and they decorate accordingly with everything from medical play equipment to suspension equipment to a spa out back  Hush Now is geared toward new people and doesn't tend to have a lot of equipment.  Also, the venue moves a lot.  There are a few other clubs around Australia but I've not been to them.   I'm not sure what information you are actually looking for and I'm not in the states but there's a bit of Aussie info for you :)

I prefer my Lord's dungeon for play.  However, South Florida has two places for play.  My preference is Command Performance.  It is run by a female dominant and though it is rather small it has the feel of a dungeon to me; the atmosphere is what draws me about this place.  The other is Club Kinks.  For me it has the feel of a bar that also happens to have play there.  It is a social place and is loud and on a busy night the area right around the play spaces get crowded.  I sometimes find it difficult to stay focused on play if it is really busy.

definitely The Private Museum of Kink and Erotic Education right here in Texas.  Kitchen, rest room with bath and shower, social area and stocks, cross, cage, suspension, kneeler and horse plus lots of "Educational " opportunities.

MistressDiane -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 4:16:30 PM)

There's nothing within hours of driving from here so we have an in home dungeon and of course a nice big barn loft and the woods. Lots of woods round here.

I've got a studio which is part of an old industrial building which has a crossbeam and pulley tackle. Though BDSM is the reason I have the place, it certainly comes in handy.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 4:28:01 PM)

Let's see, the spaces I've been to that I'm pretty sure are still open-

Leather by Danny's in Boston- great place, has some general equipment and lots of space, excellent sectioning of social and play spaces, sex allowed, food and drinks provided and are fabulous.

Paddles in NYC- good for dark corner small scenes, no food and pricey drinks (it's NYC though so par for the course), had good sturdy stuff and people aren't afraid to go nuts

Playhouse in Baltimore- again excellent for small intimate scenes, lots of specialized sections, need an invite and it's pricey not to mention treacherous parking, lots of stairs not so great for the heel lovers

Crucible in DC- Huge wide open spaces, perfect if you want to do singletailing or to watch everything, parking is good though it's not in a great area, all the basics with plenty of space to lounge and hang out in, and a well used medical area

1763 in Atlanta- cold, but well positioned, large wide space for open scenes, small rooms for personal things and a great variety of equipment, social areas are a bit strewn about

This isn't counting the swing clubs or nightclubs or private spaces that have goth or fetish areas.

yourMissTress -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 4:43:34 PM)

My favorite place to play in Nashville, TN is The Mark.  There is a huge and open play space with lots of very large and sturdy equipment.

KnightofMists -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 4:49:46 PM)

My favorite is my own personal dungeon.  In Alberta there is no public dungeon or even club dungeon spaces that are in operation.  However, in Edmonton and Calgary there is organized groups that Rent a Hall space once a month and setup some equipment for people to come and play at.  The poplulation size up here is much to small for any dedicated space to be economical to keep.  It will likely be a very long time before we ever see that in Alberta.

Jnj -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 5:41:39 PM)

My favorite is Galleria Domain 2 in Chicago.  I've been to the Crucible, the old PEP Atlanta, Sanctuary in Atlanta, and the Leather Rose here in the city, but GD2 still takes the cake for me.  The playspace is quite large, there are no rules except no nonconsensual pictures/drugs/alcohol, and the variety of equipment is amazing.

CrappyDom -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 6:06:51 PM)

It is funny how different the East coast clubs are than the ones in San Francisco.  I have always loved Galleria and I now lust to go to 1763.  The play spaces in SF tend to be drab warehouses with little if any attempt at ambiance (I guess I am an ambiance whore), the only space that is the equal of any of the ones mentioned is www.powerexchange.com but it isn't as clean nor as focused on S&M, at least the portions open to straight men.

Thanks for everyone who has posted and to those who continue to post, I am bookmarking all of these.  I have two selfish interests this is serving, one someone has opened a rather fabulous small public play space in Sacramento and I am helping them with their website and the other is I am going to start selling my very high end toys and want to offer some to the better play spaces as fund raising items for them and advertising for me.  On a kinkier note, I want to know which cities I MOST want to visit!

buffiyum -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 6:23:56 PM)

buffy has only been to one Dungeon in the US of A, that being 'The Wet Spot' in Seattle.... it was very well set up, with places for folks who just wish to view, as well as a 'social area' for folks who wish to chat .... the Dungeon area itself included lots of differente types of equipment including scaffolds and St Andrews cross's, and space for suspension play. There was also nooks for medical play and private places for the 'shy-at-heart'. It had even more stuff to talk about but the best idea, is to go there for yourself when you can.

In BC, Canada,  one has been to Sagacity in Victoria Tons of times.... that is a very well run and Fun group which has an extremely well-equipped Dungeon once a month and special play events approximately 4 times a year. There is a social area, and the 'smorg' is to die for. As it is very populaire, one often goes on their website prior to any play party or event in order to ensure one gets a ticket.  There is no place like it, really there aint.
Rascals, in Vancouver  is a 'Dungeon' open once a month with plenty of play space, a few social areas, and for those really uninhibited folks, a stage area too.
There is also Bio in Vancouver, which buffy has not gone to yet but which one has heard good things of, as well.
Smaller communities, have their own 'set-up', too.
respectfully
buffy (who wishes she had gotten to go to The Green Door in Las Vegas when she was visiting nearby Arizona because.... it looks nice on the website ....sighs).

MHOO314 -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 6:28:40 PM)

My favorite play space is My dining room table--when all the leaves are in--it seats 12! Good for a 6ft sub---and allows for spontaneity---mooowaaahhhhh

CrappyDom, thanks for the PE link.  Also, being just outside Sacramento, I would be interested in info on the Sacramento place you mentioned.  Thank you.

CrappyDom -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 6:54:27 PM)

Ownedgirlie,

You just missed the "Heavy S&M" party that was a wonderful pansexual event and was actually pretty damn pansexual and heavy on the D/s too, all in all a very delicious and wicked evening.

The website needs some work, the pictures do not do the space justice,  thus one of the reasons for this thread.  The space is www.sindulgences.com and the other Sacramento group www.pleasurebound.org which also has parties in a nice space although I haven't been to one of their events at this new space so that is based on 2nd hand knowledge.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 7:03:56 PM)

Thank you CrappyDom.  I am checking the sites out now.  Have you been the the pleasurebound munches?  I may ask my Master about attending.

LadyHugs -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 8:25:06 PM)

Dear CrappyDom, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I've been lucky to go to several clubs, I don't remember all of them and don't know if they're still around.

That said, so many clubs/BDSM dungeon sites offer different flavors.  I really enjoy how creative they are with the space provided.

Current favorite - DC's The Crucible.  It has moved about from several places but their current site is most stable www.the-crucible.com
They have wax and medical stations, a wench system to do suspended bondage, plenty of bondage stations, a lot of room for single tails to bull whip work, upstairs there is an area to shower, bathrooms on top floor and lower floor, acts as host dungeon for BR convention, MAL, Master-slave conference, etc.

PlayHouse -- Yes, the parking garage is "tight" spiral and rubbing fenders and sides of car doors are entirely possible (place is a former newspaper building 1900s vintage--when autos were the size of buggy and wagons) It has already been accurately described.

Bound - It is more "fetish"-"goth" and or "industrial" but, a nice cheery crowd.  (DC)

The Crypt- Closed taken by the new DC Baseball stadium
The Edge - Closed and taken by the new DC Baseball stadium
The Wet - Closed and taken by the new DC Baseball stadium
Tracks -- Closed and demolished and office building sits there now.
Sir Ken's B&B located in a 1800 circa town house--victim of the stadium and not protected by DC Historical Society.

DC Eagle and Baltimore Eagle are bars however, there are some "tucked away BDSM stations."

Backdrop Club - El Cerrito, Ca - not sure if its still up and running

Sophia's B&B in Bowie, MD --Really nice but, no longer in business.

The Vault at 28 Tenth Ave, in NY

Hellfire - When it was at 28 9th Av; between 13&14 Streets

Lady Lori's Dark Castle (Club 200) in Farmingdale, NY (Long Island)

Le Chalet-Black Cabniet Room - Germany

Club Doma - The Hague, Holand

Studio Amanda - Rotterdam, The Netherlands
SBIC at Marmixstraat 48, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

SMIL Norway (English speaking) in Oslo Norway

El Chalet in Malaga, Spain was beautiful

Club Sunrise in Lidkoping, Sweden --Swedish speaking only but, I was a guest of some friends who did all the translating.

Privilege Club in London
Red Stripe Club
The Tatou Club  All nice

But, like others have said --There is no place like home (dungeon).

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

LadyHugs -> RE: Best Playspaces (5/10/2006 8:32:40 PM)

Dear MistressDiane--

You jogged my memory on some other places; so I do thank you!!

D-Inn in West Virginia -- It was beautifully set in the hills of West Virginia but, it has been sold and not sure what will happen with the home but--it had as much room as Play House, the decor was "Spanish."

I also agree, that barns are splendid for scenes -- There is a dear, dear man Daddy John who hosts occassionally.

Woodhall (MD)-- I believe they are on and off, as they have times caring for relatives like me.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs
