Now...I think we had such a topic already some time ago, but don't have the time now to search for it...so in case my memory is right and we had that already, feel free to link it.

However, as it is much easier for me to answer that question I thought to put it up as alternative to the dislike topic.

I like about the UK:

- their pantomimes

- their beerfestivals

- the fact that you do find money on the streets here quite regular (from 1p up to 40 pound...I never found so much cash lieing around at home )

Now we're talking. More tasty beers than you can shake a stick at!

Oh, and we have no natural predators, which is useful, and moderate weather.

And, last but not least, until some country is discovered in the impenetrable deepest, darkest corner of Africa: this is the best country in the world.

The accents?

I can never understand a damn thing they say.

Someone needs to start an American language school over there.

If it were not for closed captioning..... I'd never be able to understand anything said on BBC America!!!!  Now the spouse has lived there and can understand everything with "British ears" turned on, but some of the phrases still don't make sense to me. I think Grahm Norton is funny as hell....but I only THINK that...  cause I only understand half of what he says, and then only "get" half of what I understood.
I recall Churchill saying something about two peoples seperated by a common language!!!!

I've never been, but there are ways the UK touches my life.

I love the way with words, so colorful and (limerick) poetic.
Alan Rickman.
The way people in the television shows are real looking rather than plastic perfect.
Shakespeare.
The music.
The Magna Carta (really - it changed the world)
Understated humor / over the top humor.
The ability to maintain a certain mystery and yet still be so well known.
The history

A because they do it so freaking well, LOVE British badddies, so sexy,
B Cos he has been funny and a great actor since he was discovered( Im guessing you are talking about Hugh Laurie, but of course you could be talking about Cleese or  any of the python gang, Blackadder and NTNON gang.

Heh

Too much to love about the UK but I am a bit biased and really homesick at the moment
